Exactly James!!!

Whilst we all know Team Mayweather started all this to rile/annoy Team Pacman - its the reaction of Pacman and his team which gets the alarm bells ringing - whilst there are many of us who genuinally want all of this to be a simple storm in a tea cup - its the reaction to all of the sh*t Mayweather has caused which I find concerning.

Manny appears to have conceded now to having the tests done - one when the press conference is announced, one 30 days before the fight, and another post fight.

I've always admired Mayweather and followed his career due to his technical excellence more than excitement. So you could say I am a fan. But I am also a huge Pacquiao fan. I , am almost certain, Pacman's tests are clean and then I hope he smashes Mayweather to bits to shut him up once and for all. His whining about the drugs test is extremely disrespectful to Pacman's hard work over the years. Whatever happened to old fashioned desire, having a good trainer and sheer hard work being behind a successful career as is the case with Pacman!?!

manny pac has agreed to the above - so why is there a problem gayweather????

all the problems are coming from gayweather jnr , why is that???

ive said in other threads , i really do think that mayweather deep down thinks manny has his number

You utter cretin, but i'm glad to see you have tossed me a nice juicy half volley 1st up, while i play myself in.

It seems that Mayweather's camp think Pacquiao is on HGH (and i'll bet my weight in custard that he is) the only really effective test (in theory) for HGH is to take samples of someones blood over a period of time and compare the level of growth hormone to see if there are spikes in it (a person's level of HGH should be consistent) you cant just test 1 sample for the presence of HGH and bingo, you've got him.

I dont know what the fuss is about anyway, boxing is a filthy sport where drugs are concerned and the testing practices are an utter joke.

Its so sad that Boxing has come to this. Did Louis, Ali, Marciano, Hagler, Sanchez, of Griffith ever have to undergo this?

Apparently Pac had a blood test 14 days before the Hatton fight, so much for fear of needles and being weak after taking blood and all the other JUNK.

Apparently it is on the episide of 27/4.

Who is going to enforce the blood test after the fight? What if Pacman shoots some HGH or EPO into his system 2-3 days before the fight and then does a number on FLoyd (highly unlikely but what if) and then after the fight says, "I did enough tests, I'm not giving any more blood".

What is going to happen then?

As for saying mayweather thinks Pacman will beat him... LOL, do you know anything about a boxers mentality? Especially someone like Floyd.
Isn't it obvious? You just withhold around 20% of his purse until the blood test has been taken. If he doesn't take a blood test within the time agreed after the fight. He loses 20% of his purse. I can't see the problem with taking the blood test after the fight. Mayweather will win and easy. Then nobody will even care about the results.

Does anyone here actually really believe that

1) Manny isn't on something?

2) This is not at all unusual in boxing?

I care, because if manny has been taking HGH, then he denigrates the achievements of other fighters who campaigned in multiple divisions.

Now at this stage, I've no idea if he has or hasn't been, but to say its not an issue is just plain silly.

Of course it is, if fighters continue to juice themselves up it just gets into the realms of the ridiculous. Just look at the sorry state of America's beloved baseball, where you have Barry Bonds, who everyone knows has been juicing himself for years, continuing to hit the ball out of the park and break all previous records, every other week, knocking the real and genuine old time stars out of the record books.

The best fighter would come down to whoever has the best dealer in town.

winkveron wrote:No doubt about it, the sport should be 100% clean. But why has no-one ever questioned Mayweather's rise through the weight divisions? And what happens when another boxer demands all sorts of tests...do we have to bow down to them? It's going to get out of hand in my opinion. I just don't see why all of a sudden the rules have to be changed for this particular fight.

Prove me if I'm wrong but I can't recall any of you banging on about drug testing procedures UNTIL Mayweather did.
i think a fighter who speaks out about steroids is likely to be clean, especially when he's asking for tests that he also would have to do.

anyway, payweather, the ultimate whiner, will have plenty to whine about, because the one megabucks superfight out there for him is probably gone. looks like fighting teenagers in mexico, and matthew hatton in manchester as alternatives LOL

i would laugh out liud if HBo made payweather fight someone like paul williams in order ton get his big money, a bloody giant octopus that would likely beat him due to size.

if pac can't stand up for himself in the most direct way, if he will allow his image to get sullied by not taking the extra tests, then bugger him too. roll on "superights" with malngaggi and yuri foreman.

what a joke this situation has become. superfights rarely deliver though, do they. usually very one sides, superfights, big profile bouts that allow fighters to cash out of the sport.

Boxing News Updated 24 hours a day 7 Days a week
Mayweather/Golden Boy Statement
After a Christmas weekend filled with comments and reports related to the potential mega-fight between Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao, Mayweather Promotions and Golden Boy Promotions have issued the following joint statement:

Let the record be clear: Manny Pacquiao and his promoter Bob Arum are threatening to walk away from the largest fight in history. The fact is that random blood and urine testing was one of the many deal points and was listed along with the others, such as the financial split, the weight, financial penalty for being overweight, the appointment of the foreign sales agent, the production of the marketing assets, the gloves and many more. Team Mayweather made major concessions in many of these areas and we were optimistic that Team Pacquiao would do the same as it related to the request for random blood and urine testing, which Floyd Mayweather agreed to immediately.
It is disappointing for us to see that the benefits of blood testing and the fact that many different substances and procedures can only be detected by blood testing, are still not fully understood by all.

Their “take it or leave it” approach where blood testing would stop 30 days prior to the fight unless the Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) approved differently is another indication that they may not want this fight. Pacquiao’s position (and as stated on his website) is. “The truth is taking blood out of my body does not seem natural to me and mentally I feel it will weaken me if blood is taken from me just days before the fight” or he is “afraid of needles” and does not feel comfortable with blood being taken closer than 30 days before the fight is another interesting point. The fact is that he did have blood taken just 14 days prior to his fight with Ricky Hatton, an event which was documented on HBO’s 24/7 reality show.
Also when told that Pacquiao feels that the United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) is an agent of Golden Boy Promotions-which is in and of itself a ridiculous accusation-we moved swiftly and made yet another concession by stating that we would be perfectly fine to retain another agency which would do the random urine and blood tests and jointly agree on a reasonable cutoff prior to the fight but which would still maintain the integrity of the results. Let it be clear that this procedure was declined by Pacquiao as was the proposal to bring in an independent mediator such as Sen. John McCain, a suggestion that was in fact embraced by Bob Arum, but also declined by Manny Pacquiao.

Let it be very clear that nobody from Team Mayweather or Golden Boy Promotions is accusing Pacquiao of anything. But the reality seems to be that for whatever reason Pacquiao does not want to participate in random blood testing, which has already been deemed a harmless procedure that many current athletes are subjected to prior to and during competition.

Team Mayweather and Golden Boy Promotions is still open to the earlier discussions of having both parties work out a mutually agreeable understanding of the testing, which would be conducted by a mutually agreed upon agency.

In closing Floyd Mayweather is one of the most decorated athletes boxing has ever seen and he is anxious to make this fight happen for all of the fans and sports enthusiasts that are asking for this fight to happen too. As you might have noticed Floyd has been silently watching and patiently waiting for the final details of the fight to get worked out. As Floyd has already stated he does not have a problem with the random procedure and will be under the same requirements as Pacquiao, it is simply hard for him to understand why there is reluctance on Pacquiao’s part to agree to do the same.

he better not have a wank before his epic with malignaggi then

come to think of it, perhaps pac and payweather can both do that before their next superfights, kind of as a handicap, a concession to outclassed opponents

It's changed pretty quickly for PacMan hasn't it, once Floyd Sr put it out there, then the test issue.
It does look bad for Pac, because no sane man can turn down 40 mill over such minor principles can he? How much blood do they take each test?

Maybe he's bluffing, and will take em, who knows just yet. Cotto has just come out yelling foul too, indirectly.
If it's true, after Marg and then this, poor ol Cotto will be the poster boy for "just say no ( to the opponent thanks)".

FFS, there's more politics in the making of a Boxing match than there is in the House of Commons!

Nevada Commission have ordered by guys submit urine samples within 48 hours. If they both comply & results come back that ther is nothing illegal in their bodies, what happens from then on out?

Let's just get the fight on for crying out loud!

well its interesting, because hgh doesnt show up in urinalysis, the only way to detect it is to compare serum levels in the blood over a period of time so this would not prove or disprove anything.
