Facts to note: Richard Nowakowski was a five-time East German national senior champion (1974, 1976, 1978-1979, 1981); an East German national senior finalist, 1975; and a West German national senior champion, 1989).
Nowakowski boxed in 24 international championships and tournaments from 1973-1982. Of those, he was 14 times a champion, twice a finalist, four times a semifinalist, and three times a quarterfinalist. The only exception to the above was his loss in the first series of the competition in the 1978 World Championships.
Nowakowski boxed in 17 international dual matches from 1976-1982, winning 15 and losing only twice.
