The best of England - Fitz (NZ and Aus), Len Harvey, Ted kid Lewis, Jock McAvoy, Len Johnson, Eric Boon, Peter Kane, Jackie kid Berg, Joe Bowker, Randy Turpin; England has a good few actually who are hard to seperate.

The best of Scotland - Benny Lynch, Bert Gilroy, Elky Clark, Alex Lafferty, Tommy Milligan, Peter Keenan, Jackie Paterson, Ken Buchanan, Jim Brady.

The best of Ireland - Nonpariel Jack Dempsey (USA), Jimmy McLarnin (Canada), Rinty Monaghan, McGuigan - loads of Irish/Americans and more I'm forgetting I'm sure.

As a Brit (and a Welsh one at that), I'm aware of this.

Perhaps BoxRec itself should be lobbied for separate England, Wales, Scotland, N. Ireland rankings, rather than "British"?

As it is, the wider world identifies with Britain/UK, which is why I made this particular poll.

Britain is an empire... Hence "The British Empire".

Or, if you are looking at it geographically, these islands are called "The British Isles", but no, there are speatare countries.

Er not sure thats correct. The British Empire was called an 'Empire' because it ruled over about a quarter of the globe. Thats no longer the case, most of the places it ruled over no longer come under British rule, therefore it cannot be called an Empire no longer.

No, that child is not American.

As Controbversial said, "The British Empire" is a defuncty concept and name. The closest thing to it is the current day Commonwealth, but the difference is that Britain no longer controls the majority of Commonwealth countries.

The British Isles is indeed a geographical name, not a political one.

The full, official name for the country is THE UNITED KINGDOM OF GREAT BRITAIN AND NORTHERN IRELAND. That's what is says on your passport.
