I am very slowly warming to Enzo I would love to see him in with Hobson next. Although after Hobson last performance would he want any part of the big punching Welsh fighter?

Rich LaMontagne was certainly shot to pieces, but what a tough man - to geniunally protest after the beating he took showed heart. The fight should have been stopped sooner in my opinion - but given LaMontagne's reactions after the contest it was probably the right time.

It seemed like Enzo had to tell him "stop protesting, you took a beating".

This was an awkward one for the ref. The fight should have been stopped earlier but everytime the opportunity arose the bell sounded to end the round, therefore the ref. giving Montagne the benefit of the doubt.
Good stoppage by the ref. at the end though.

Yeah agree, even though I said it should have been stopped sooner it was very awkard - I thought in reality it was timed correct (especially as I predicted 4th stoppage in the prediction league.

Speaking of the prediction league, I don't know what came over me - I have been saying on various other forums (US ones) that Diaz would stop Irwin late, what did I predict ...... Diaz on points, what the f came over me.

Total mismatch, as was predicted when the fight was made, thats about 4 in a row for Enzo. Another guy who's legs where totally gone. When that guy bent down to slip punches he he took about half an hour raising his head again. Also had a total lack of snap on his punches. He may look in shape but so does Evander Holyfield.

A surprising lack of critisism from you guys. You guys must be warming to these constant mismatches. Lets do a competition, who can name the most Sports Network farcical mismatches? In the last 6 months alone their have been more than I can even remember. I wonder what it feels like to watch a fight where you actually don't know who's going to win. Ive forgotten.

In this world of horrible mis matches - there is still one that sticks out. Harrison vs Kebede.

Although some of Calzaghe's have been glorified sparring session - Pudwill, and that other guy mger something or other.

Embarassing one sided beating...must now step up in class. Hmm I find myself saying the same thing after nearly every SKY fight

I just want to say that the ol' BBBofC medical and its high standards when it comes to safety is doesn't always look as good as it seems or how they make it out to be when you see them quoted in the tabloids sometimes.

If their standards were beyond reproach, then how the hell was Tamas Feheri allowed anywhere near a ring, let alone in one to be bashed up by Michael Sprott (a couple of years ago) in one of the most outrageous match-ups I've seen. Everyone goes on about how stringent our glorious BBBofC are and how they're so far ahead of most boxing boards/commissions but it I'm not so sure. I mean, look how they stopped Herol Graham from fighting out of concerns for his health, yet they let a guy who was so grossly out of shape it was unbelievable, take an ugly two-round beating at the hands of an at-the-time rampant Sprott. Inconsistent is the word I think sums them and their so-called high standards.

It was Jorge Castro - they said he wasn't competitive enough in his previous performance and feared a mismatch!

Yeah that's right, that never made any sense to me, Montagne was hammered from pillar to post in two of his last three, and only won his last bout because his opponent got a shoulder injury. Yet Castro had lost to a top 10 fighter in Sebastian Rothmann going the distance.

Didn't watch it, but lets face it, with SN "matches" you don't really need to to watch em to know the results these days.
They're so terrified at SN of seeing the fragile Enzo in with anyone half decent, we're unlikely to see him in a real fight for.......oh say 3 years I reckon.
Wonder who they're looking at next - Matthew Saad Muhammed? John Conteh maybe?

Will be interesting to see whether the fight with Nelson goes ahead. My suspicion is that they will offer Nelson what he considers peanuts to put his title on the line and he'll tell them to go poke it, and it will never happen. I cannot see Nelson doing this without being well paid.

Although Nelson is getting on, I still fancy him to give Macaranelli a very unpleasant night.

Yes I like Enzo as a fighter - he'd be an exciting talent if SN didn't handle him with such kid gloves all the time ( since his sink or swim Scott fight anyway ) but no way can I see him beating the crafty Nelson. He'd get taken to school and knocked out down the stretch probably.

A one rounder between him and Haye would be great ( because it'd only go one round surely )

Sorry to drag this old topic back up again but i just watched the fight properly this time when not so tired and all i can say is fornicate ME!!! I was cringeing through the whole thing. LaMontagne was so shot to pieces it was shameful, the guy couldn't stand properly and was falling all over the place and that was just during the introductions...his eyes were droopy, his legs shaky and his punches well...he couldn't even raise his lead arms above the waist. Whoever sanctioned this fight should be ashamed it was a total mismatch, of course LaMontagne was brave he didn't know where he was! His corner must also take a little of the blame as well, his brother was trying to motivate the shell of a man in between rounds. How did he pass the medical? The pre-fight fears of LaMontagne being shot and basically out of it were painfully accurate...this fight was a disgrace.

SKY Sports are just as bad, Nicky Piper said "Enzo was explosive" and Adam Smith is there salivating that "The year is off to a blistering start"...fornicate the lot of you  Idiots.

Spot on, Steve. This is why I turned the telly on at 20 minutes past ten - so I would miss the main event. I never doubted James McDonnell's topic about the rumours of him being shot and generally a shell of his old self. I would have felt sick if the guy had got seriously hurt, so I decided to only watch the undercard, which was actually rather good.
