My best ever was ringside at the Lewis Botha fight.
Minny Driver was asked to move cos she was in my seat !
Also met Russell Crowe briefly before the Ricky / Zoo fight.
Other then that loads of Footballers, cast of Coronation Street, blah blah blah.
My worst moment was chatting away to a bloke who I then found out was Mark Morrison - Return of the Mac !

I'm convinced I set next to Liam Neeson once at a Sam Storey fight. I could be wrong though.

Re: who have you spotted ringside at fights?
I saw Jerry Springer at the Lewis/ Botha fight.
Saw Richard Branson at a Naz fight.
Met George Foreman at another Naz fight in London in think. (Top bloke)
High fived a hyper active Ian Wright on his way to his seat with three young bucks from West Ham. Those three kids were Joe Cole, Frank lampard and Rio ferdinand (what ever happened to those three?)
Met loads of boxers through writing for Britishboxing.net and others. I've found that boxers are in general are fantastic people to meet as they are usually welcoming, fun and honest. I guess they don't feel that they have to prove anything through social interactions thus making them chilled and open.
I've always found froch to have a zen like confidence and calmness that has always impressed me.

I've seen a guy that bears more than a passing resemblance to Butterbean at several shows over the years, most recently Dennis Hobson and Hayemaker promotions. Slimmer, but there is that certain something.

Mike Skinner of The Streets at York Hall re: Anthony Small vs Takaloo

Yep. When he was arrested for chucking a phone at a bell boy a couple of days later he was still wearing the same jacket (a promo one from the Jim Jeffries film)!twenty six wrote: Also met Russell Crowe briefly before the Ricky / Zoo fight.
Re: who have you spotted ringside at fights?
I saw Paulie Walnuts from the Sopranos at MSG for Cotto-Mosley. He really has that hairstyle. He wasn't quite ringside, in fact I had
better seats than him!
My favourite (as I'm an Everton fan) was seeing Graham Stewart in BETTER SEATS THAT MICHAEL DOUGLAS for Calzaghe-Jones Jr.
Robbie Williams was on the Hatton bandwagon at the Castillo fight which had my girlfriend very excited.

That was partly down to myself, Stevie Bell and my mate who smuggled 2 crates of Bud in the dressing room, Crowe was going for a smoke and I asked him for a photo. I noticed his coat and asked him about the Jim Braddock film..... He sent his security away and pulled up a camera crate in the dungeons of the MEN.chinny wrote:Yep. About 10 budweisers later we carried the flags into the ring
He was a great fella to talk to, nothing like what you hear. But the next morning yeah, he got nicked in NY.

Re: who have you spotted ringside at fights?
Liam Neeson was definitely at the Lewis / Fortune fight in Dublin a few years back. He boxed as an amateur I think and starred in a fight film. It's strange the amount of actor / musician types who tried a bit of boxing, or claim to. From Sid James to Terrance Trent D'Arby, who I think was a Golden Gloves champion in New York or something. I met Lee Evans at a Lewis fight in the States and then again at the aba's - he was a decent amateur by all accounts, so was Norman Wisdom who he's often likened to.housesecond wrote:I'm convinced I set next to Liam Neeson once at a Sam Storey fight. Terrence trent D'arby got caught out years ago - his story abotu boxing in the golden gloves was utter bollix, they NY golden gloves board came out and said that he had never even competed in the competition.ed robinson wrote:Liam Neeson was definitely at the Lewis / Fortune fight in Dublin a few years back.
