and you'd think the amature bouts would be cheap to pick up as well.

The only way to cater for everyone is for the darts players fight each other to see who goes first - i'll email the BBC.

I do laugh at the way the BBC hardly mention that half of the best players in the world are not at the championships.

Its as if Phil Taylor doesn't exist

I agree with the OP wholeheartedly.

It's all the more galling when the mo-fo's send patronising & threatening letters because you might have the temerity to forget tp pay the poll tax commonly referred to as the TV Licence! :shame:

Skiing?

It's effing hilarious when they have accidents, kind of the same reason why I watch motorsports too, danger is fun.

Never understood the thing with darts, a fun little game to play with your mates down the pub but to fill out leisure centres with fat balding men doing that "der der der der, der der der, OI OI OI" dance is quite cringeworthy, funny but cringeworthy.

It's (darts) not even sport either, but then again, neither is golf, but that's another debate altogether. :witzend:

if you address your letter "cn*t london" - it should go straight to the director general of the BBC.

(excuse the Derek and Clive punchline)

Boxing will have a strong team in London 2012 but the BBC do nothing to show the ABAs or any form of boxing which i just dont get. Many of us have thought it is down to boxing being a working class sport but its polo when compared to 2nd rate darts. A lot said it costs a lot to put on a live broadcast but how many cameras and staff have the BBC working at the Lakeside?
These World Darts 2010 on the BBC make the WBU title fights seem quite respectful.

rant over
Its all just excuses and politics to just justify them not bothering about boxing

They have no problem wasting vast amounts of licsene payers money sending staff on freebies / hotels / flights / to cover events like the Olymoics , etc

Or paying their bosses vast bonuses

Or overpaying their stars like Jonathn Ross £18 million deal or wasting money on irritants like Graham Norton.

Or having a refit of the BBC headquarters worth hundreds of thousands on furniture and new computer equipment - and throwing the old furtuniure and old computers in the skip when there is nothing wrong with it. (this was a really did happen)

Its a abuse of licene payers money - just like all taxes are abused by the crooked goverment to fund their own interests.

If they wanted boxing - they would have no problem throwing vast amounts of money to have the best of it.

They just dont want boxing - simple as that - they are dont care that a section of people like us on this forum would love to see our money giving us some of what we want to see

They just care about figures and what makes sense to them - its just all about their petty politics.

Yes thats so true!!!!! is so black and white isn't it? so simple to understand.....

The BBC had a meeting where they had a straight choice, Darts or Boxing. They then chose darts.

Its so straight forward! Im sure things like budget, viewing figures, past experiences with boxing promoters were not even considered in the black and white, i-cant-understand-how-ANYTHING-effing-well-works world of the boxrec forum....

come on, use your brains for one

Darts, small cost, good viewing figures, reliable content?

or

Boxing, big cost, poor viewing figures, dreadfully inconsistent content?

ummmmmmm

Thought the Sportsnight format of delayed shows from a Tuesday night at RAH or Wembley was brilliant but that was dropped many years ago. If that didn't meet BBC's viewing figures with Bruno, Watt, Magri, Hope, Laing, Jones etc in the 80's what hope have we go. They have re-entered the expensive world of live football this year so the chances of boxing returning are remote. Forget the amateurs when I last went to the Semi's and Finals they didn't even sell out leisure centres

I don't mind watching a bit of the arrows, but I would choose Boxing every time over it!

LOL yesterday, one of the commentators compared one of the Dart's players to Ronnie O'Sullivan! Are they fcuking sure or what?

O'Sullivan is more naturally gifted around a Snooker table than any dart player is on a dart board!

Problem was - Boxing GOT greedy and everytime it seems to be going through a purple patch it gets greedy again.

You only have to look at viewing figures to know boxing still has an audience, proffesional boxing especially. However, problem is - promoters and boxers use these figures as bargining tools to other TV companies etc.

The boxing that terrestial tv can afford is not of good enough quality - Olympics aside (with British involvement) the amateurs have never been big ratings pullers.

When Eubank was at the peak of his powers, and Lewis coming up to a critical stage of his career - what did they do.... go to sky - becoming pin up boys to entice people to Sky. Look at Khan now, look at what Hatton did to Warren. ITV were convinced they were getting Hatton - look at what happend! Warren took Setanta and then Sky's cash when Khan was on the cusp of big things - and it looks like Khan could be possibly doing the same to Frank.

Boxers and promoters have not shown the loyality - so how can TV companies have faith. Rome was not built in a day, but it seems people in the world of boxing thinks it is and look for the green cash..... which, given the nature of the sport is understandable.

The US boxing is just not financially viable also - its all about the cash.

Boxing on prime time Saturday evening does well! Look at the Barker viewing figures - problem is that of loyality and also, what fights are available - most British title fights are tied up to sky.

They broadcast the Darts for what, 8 days of the year? if they were to start showing boxing again surely they would have to enter a contract with a promoter, bottom line is cash.

BBC don't have a clue about sports broadcasting period! Take the darts for example, why do they start showing the BDO Championships while their bigger, more popular competitor-the PDC Championship on Sky-is still running? It makes absolutely no sense. As the main broadcaster for the BDO Championships they would have a big say in when the tournament starts.

They would probably start showing the World Sumo Championships before they would consider boxing.
