Joe Calzaghe rocked by theft
Jan 23 2005
Laura Kemp, Wales on Sunday
BOXING champ Joe Calzaghe's preparations for his world title defence suffered a setback with the theft of thousands of pounds of training equipment from his gym.
Burglars broke into the Cwmcarn building on Thursday and stole rowing machines and punchbags.
The Gwent knockout king, who will have to train elsewhere for the fight in March, said:
"It has set me back a bit but at the end of the day I want the culprits caught."
Thousands of pounds of training equipment? Must've been some pretty strong thieves.
(Or maybe they used a forklift...)
Notice Joe's WBO belt isn't mentioned - apparently the perpetrators left that behind, figuring that it was worthless. ;)

Seems like a good enough excuse for another delay. Will be interesting to see who is rumored to have allegedly committed this break-in.
On a more interesting note, how do you pronounce 'Cwncarn'? Is it 'koom-karn'? (probably way off).

When did he notice it was missing...it's probably been gone since November :(
I'll keep an eye out for some 'hardly been used' gym equipment :P

Why does the Ring Magazine rate Calzaghe at No 1? Are the fighters he gets good?

About time Calzaghe stopped training in that cow shed anyway - a training camp away from home comforts would do him wonders.

Calzaghe looked pretty chirpy sitting next to that blonde bit of stuff at the Maccarinelli card.
Nicking a second-hand punch bag is pretty cheap.

Second hand? Maybe just a few slap marks on them.

Apparently she likes to be on top, which is just as well given the amount of times Joe has been put on his back lately
