Is the fact Phil Taylor is not on the BBC televised darts (D-rate) championship part of the reason he has never come close to winning the BBC Sports Personality of the Year?!

His knowledge, both pro and amateur is unreal.
and he is the kind of person who could bring back boxing to the mainstream by fronting a Boxing show on BBC. Love him or hate him he gets people talking and as you say as an unrivialed passion for the sport, he gets my vote :TU:
good posts. wether you like big buncey or not he is still trying to push boxing in britain. doing a 5 live boxing hour every now and then. doing a bbc london radio boxing hour every week. who would you guys rathr have? adam smith growling at the top of his voice? buncey gets my vote :D

BBC are weird, it's like their motorsports coverage, fornicate me give me Touring Cars and Superbikes over bloody F1 anyday at least they're exciting but no, they choose the most boring and tedious motorsport of them all, I want to see proper fender banging racing(ie. REAL racing) not cars that disintegrate when they strike a pebble FFS! :KO:

Well bascially Phil Taylor is a 15 times World Champion and the best player in his chosen sport of all time.

Tony McCoy is something like a 10 or 11 times Champion Jockey and arguably one of if not the most profilic jumps jockey of all time.

And these two mentioned above - the greatest sportsmen their sport has ever seen are not even considered.

Then a nobodie like Zara Philips wins it for doing some show pony riding - just cos she is related to the Queen -

What a farce :witzend:

The BBC darts is pitiful, even more so after watching the SKY stuff. Did anyone catch Adams vs. Fleet this afternoon?

Jesus!

The fat lad Fleet hit 1, another 1 and then dropped the third dart on the floor, got heckled, and composed himself for a treble....1.

Fiiiiivvvve shouted the announcer.  Hilarious stuff.

Credit where it is due - it wasn't just some "show pony riding" - it was the world championship. Its bloody hard also.

That year, yes we had Joe Calzaghe beating Jeff Lacy and Joe would have been my choice (not my 2007 choice though) - but the betting favourite was a golfer who was there cause of his wife - he actually considered writing to the BBC to request his withdrawal. Wasn't this also the year the BBC introduced the "top ten" because David Walliams was going to win it hands down if it was open to all.

It was a terrible year for British sport, and Zara had won the world championship.

I saw a game between West and McCloskey in the BDO. God awful spectacle, god awful atmosphere. As a casual darts fan( only watch the PDC championship, none of that premier league stuff) I found it impossible to get into.

Anyways, back on topic

Kholosai Galaxy is right in my opinion
