Jeffries and Groves both out soon.

Post by Andy »

Tony Jeffries is back out on Feb 5th at Harvey Hadden Sports Centre in Nottingham. He should get a better work out this time, versus Nathan King, whilst George Groves boxes TBA at Brentwood a couple of weeks previously.

George Groves is Maloney's best recent signing in my view - I honestly believe Jaffa could struggle when his promoter finally steps him up in class - if Maloney was that confident of Jaffa's abilities why hasn't there been a "mini" step up in class thus far instead we are faced with continued "knock over" jobs. Some may think that harsh but I honestly believe Maloney is one of the best judges of the sport out there and if he were that confident he wouldn't worry who Jaffa went in with.

Didn't realise Groves had gone to Maloney, great signing for FTM!

Jaffa's only had 5 fights Spud, it's a bit early to criticise his standard of opposition IMO, although he definately needs a step up from his previous encounter. I don't think Frank particularly worries about who Jaffa goes in with, I think it's more down to him being difficult to match.

Thing with Jaffa is that he never got to spend anytime in any pro gyms when he was am!! He's had to learn the sport all over again!! He'll come good as he does the basics very well and given time he'll only improve.. Nathan Kng is a big step up from what he's fought BUT I see Jaffa stopping in about 5 rounds.. King won't enjoy being jabbed and hurt frequently I guarentee that.. I think Jaffa will open up his old wounds with the jab and stop him!!

It's very hard for these Olympians as every fight they have is in the spotlight and there being forced to learn there trade in front of everyone, Takes time to adjust to the pro game it really does, I can't stress enough how much different the 2 sports are..

Good luck Jaffa mate you'll come good

Think its a good idea for Jaffa to have his next fight outside of Sunderland , although the support there is superb for him. It may heap a bit too much pressure to go for the KO.

If he does box Nathan King it wil be a good move, he'll learn a bit more there.

Plus sometimes its not the ones who look good early in their careers that go all the way, its a long road ahead for all of them

Good fight for Jeffries, King put up a good fight against DeGale from what I seen. I dont think Groves is quite ready for Salam but I do like the way there putting him in tough from the start :TU:

Bless your cotton socks!!! :TU:

Although I will concede Nathan King is a good step in the right direction - King is durable and Jaffa will do very well to stop him.

It should be a complete whitewash on the cards - if there is a stoppage its a good result.

Groves does look classy, you are right. He has adapted nicely to the pros and Adam Booth is doing a good job with him, hopefully he will go far.
