Samuel Peter, future champ?

Samuel Peter had another good win at the weekend, over Yanqui Diaz by 5th round tko, before this he had a stunning KO over Jeremy Williams.

He seems to be building some momentum towards a title shot, and is moving up in class of opponents. Beating Williams and Diaz. Although Williams' chin has always been questionable and Diaz was untested.

He also holds wins over Shufford and Pudar on points , so seems to have stamina as well. All in all he looks a good compact fighter. At 6' 2" tall he isn't the biggest , could have problems against the Klitchkos of the world, but then again who wouldn't.

Maybe he can become the first African born Heavyweight Champ, mind you saying that i could be wrong there, wasn't Botha champ for about 2 days before drug test sussed him out?

Akinwande had a great KO against Williams aswell...so im not going to read to much into that there win...but the guys big and strong...and with the obvious weekness of the division...you can never say never.

Williams was an old blown up cruiserweight with a poor chin. He was chinny in his prime, and he was chinnier still when he faced Peter. Peter is a big strong guy, but he's bloody raw.

I've seen Peter's fight from Saturday, wasn't that impressed really. Very clumsy and raw, can't see him doing that much.

i've only seen an early fight a 1 round blowout and he looked powerfull then, obviously hasn't improved much stylewise.

His KO over Williams was impressive but he is by no means the first person to do that.

Still a fighter worth watching though.

I have seen quite a few of Samuel Peter fights, but to be honest, i've never really been that impressed by him. He is still young though and he's still learning, so i wont write hime off entirely.

Peter can bang, so he is exciting, didn't Tua look a little raw at this point in his career? Does anyone know if Peter can take a whack? He is no Ali, but if he has a chin I think he could do well in the current division.

Bloody hell are you lot underestimating this guy or what!! I have watched his last 3 fights and I'm telling you now dont underestimate this man! I would put money on him beating Ruiz right now. If he were British you would be hugging his nuts so hard.

He's a big puncher, physically strong and that's about it so far, it depends on whether they can teach him any technique. He's also small for a modern heavyweight.

It's true, but nobody will admit that.

As for Peter, I think he's quite clumbsy and a plodder but he'll do well in this heavyweight division. He can certainly win a belt.

I had a question mark about his chin, since it's never been checked, but with a neck like that I think it's pretty safe to assume he can take a shot.

Lets see him in with someone decent first. Williams has no chin to speak of and I've seen Diaz's fight with Bean and he is nothing special at all.

He's like Matt Skelton, but he has time on his side, he's only 24 and still learnin, as long as he can bang he has got a chance, A bit like David Tua, wasnt the best of boxers but by hell he could bang.
