Hmmm .. interesting..
Some here claimed he only bored us to tears for 11 and three quarter rnds cos his hand broke in the 2nd
I think your t-shirt insight may be closer to the truth :TU:

I think from now on he`ll only be wearing the red t-shirt for the pre-fight press conferences :OhYes:

It will be very interesting to see if Khans people have the same confidence as his cheerleaders here :-?
Warren has stated he didn`t want the Prescott fight when it was 1st mooted .. does he know believe Khans chin has improved enough since that disaster to face a bigger, better puncher in maidana????
Its Khan and indeed Hayes week chins that make them marketable - If they got ko'd by a fighter the rematch is still going to be big business due to the fact their boxing skills still make them capable of winning it. Neither of them are likely to loose on points ever.

Khan would easily win a rematch with prescot. If haye gets sparked by one of the klitschkos he will still get big fights and a big purse rematch.

Being a bit chinny is what will make every one of their fights exciting to watch, anyone can ko them but equally they have the ability to ko anyone too.
I kinda agree.
Though how Haye boxed the giant last time suggests he too could be one of the scared guys who just runs and runs from the Klitschkos after running and running their mouth off beforehand
Also. Is Khan this big puncher some here are now saying - simply cos he bowled over Salita? Way I see it. Khan has very good boxing skills, very average punch power, very bad chin.
Time will tell, hopefully we get to see him in there with Vitali soon. Vitali ain't getting any younger, and he could either get injured and his career could be over, or he could get beaten by someone else just due to age - thought quite who I don't know.

If indeed it was the badly bruised hand which stopped him throwing, then all well and good, but if not, then I have to wonder how on earth he will be able to fight more aggressively against the much more dangerous Vitali. Big as Valuev is, he doesn't have half the output or punch power of Vitali, nor the stamina.

i think the tactic was give him a clout and if his skull is too thick just out box him. In all fairness if you brake your hand on someones head your out of options (seeing his hand numerous times after the fight on various tv appearances theres no doubt his hand was clearly broken and swollen to about twice the size of his left).

But the t-shirt thing isnt made up thats what is actually symbolises, the commentators even mentioned it as haye was walking in the ring.

If you havent watched many haye fights i think its a bit premature to be considering him to be a coward in the ring off the back of one fight against an extremely akward opponent. im sure he will show people what he is made of against ruiz, and after watching the vitali v johnson fight, i think haye has got too much for vitali and will be looking for the knock out. In what looks to be only vitalis 2nd exciting fight in his whole career.

And how exactly was he gonna find that out if he didn`t throw anything worthwhile for 11 and 3quarters rnds?

Not disputing his hand was bruised or broken by the end of the contest. I just draw suspicion on the myth it went in the 2nd or 3rd round and this is why he bored us to death with his tedious bore tactics(after promising so much in the build up)
kingfinn wrote: But the t-shirt thing isnt made up thats what is actually symbolises, the commentators even mentioned it as haye was walking in the ring.
I which case the excuse why he didn`t do more was nothing to do with the supposed broken hand early thing then?

I`ve seen every pro fight of Hayes. I was even sent a dvd of quite a few of his amateur fights by a very generous person on this site some time ago. :TU:
And I have never once labelled Haye or any other pro boxer a coward .. and can`t imagine ever doing so in the future.

But for you to claim Haye would have too much for Vitali after viewing him against Johnson - after hayes 3only heavyweight contests

Way I see it. Haye demonstrated in the Valuev contest that he isn`t gonna be the same guy he was at cruiserweight at the new weight. The advantages he held at the lower weight are all pretty much gone. He will rely on speed at heavyweight ...safety first and speed.

I think he would try the same tactics on the Klitschko brothers as he did on Valuev. I`m 100% sure he would never ever take it to any of them.
I also see him biding his time to fight any of them also. I think he will try to drag it on for another 2-3yrs before wanting anything to do with them .. then hoping father time will help defeat them.

Comparing Khan to Haye is like comparing night and day.

Khan boxed like that against a guy his own size.

Haye was fighting the biggest heavyweight belt holder of all time.

Something tells me Valuev can hit harder than Prescott.

I don't think Valuev hits harder than Prescott and if he does, not by much. He has gone the distance in his last six fights. When he does score a stoppage it usually comes late against an average opponent. His size is very misleading, because in reality he hasn't shown better than average power in the ring.

heh, i would like to think he does but this is forumland :TU:

i think by the way that Kotelnik's win vs Maidana- and the fight itself- don't get enough credit. punchstats had maidana throwing something like 1000+ punches? all of them, this being Maidana, 'foool bluddieed shoghts' as Watt would say.

possibly for kotelnik its because he was out-thrown and many people think he got a bit lucky with the scoring (i don't).
Obvious A beating B and B beating C doesn't mean A automatically beats C. However, against Ortiz, Maidana looked very easy to hit and hurt. Sure he can walk through a lot of stick, it seems, but if Khan can box to instructions and stay out of trouble, he should win.
Ortiz gave him a lot of encouragement by standing in front of him and having a war. Kahn, surely, would not be so dumb.

one thing about haye. how do some of you kjnow if he fought like that v valuev, he'd fight like that v the K2 bros?

differentr body types, different styles. also, the fact that haye actually had valuev hurt at the end. this may affect how he approaches future fights, perhaps making him pace/plan the fight in a more dynamic balance of offense/defense. if it was wlad, then surely haye would try to land the bomb, as he did vs 6'4 macca and 6'6 gurov...we have to condsider that haye had a massive layoff between barrett and valuev fights. v valuev, he seemed to look after himself, making sure he got the result. it doesn't mean all fights v big heavyweights will be like this.

but v vitali, he would have to use great movement, and some nasty punching. is he up to it? who knows, it's a mystery. i personally would like to see him gamble, open up big time. because vitali - though he boxed well and looked strong - looked a bit "sorry", a bit pouty (trout pout), a bit miserable in the kevin johnson fight.

I think he will try the same tactics with both Klit brothers. There is no way Haye and Booth will throw caution to the wind against either.

You really think that only Devon Alexander and 'maybe' Tim Bradley can give him "trouble" ?

It beggars belief how some have swallowed the hype so badly.

The sad thing is that Hatton isn't old but his body is because of the way he's abused it.
He'd still beat any of Alexander, Bradley, Khan, Holt, Torres, Kotelnik, Madiana though.

The WBA has called a purse bid for a showdown between WBA super lightweight champion Amir Khan and interim titleholder Marcos Maidana. The bidding will take place at 11AM on Monday, January 18th at the WBA’s Panama office. The bidding will be directed by Gilberto Jesus Mendoza and Jose Oliver Gomez.
Let's get it on. I like Khan by wide decision, possibly even a late stoppage. Can't rule out him getting KTFO though, but I think the most likely scenario is a victory for "King Khan"

I 100% agree that Khan wouldn't go to war with Maidana (Ortiz stylee), but from what I've seen of him he's not going to be easy to contain and he can bang, so whilst I'd be picking Khan to beat him it would be a very tough fight against an opponent who can cause him problems (i.e. he can punch).

It'd be a massive feather in the cap of Amir if he beat Maidana and it would show the boxing world that he's not going to consistantly avoid dangerous fighters who can bang, as he has done prior to and post Prescott.

I'm an Amir fan, but that will change if he continues to cherry pick his fighters (which I don't think he will)

Im not sure its wazza who cherry picks the fights you know, most of his fighters ditch him as soon as they get the big money fights due to ego or financial reasons, Khan wants big fights and i think he has the best promoter in england so he's likely to get em. If he doesnt go for maidana he'll go for another big fight Bradley, Campbell, or Ortiz.

I wouldnt be suprised if he fights Malignaggi he's ranked up there but to me its not a danger fight, be good to watch though.

My bet is it will be Bradley or Maidana next.

It simply has to be Maidana next, unless a dramatic swerving is about to take place. The only realistic way they can avoid Maidana is if they deliver Bradley, which I think they will. Slightly off-topic but I rate Bradley highly and would back him to beat Khan if they met.

After watching khan vs salita i'm now convinced that khan will beat maidana,he won't come through a war to win as i don't think he is capable of that with this opponent, but i can see khan overpowering him before the fight has a chance to get started,or running all night for a wide points win.Khans boxing ability will carry him through most fights without any problems,it's when he is forced to stand and trade that he will come undone.

If you think Khan will beat Maidana that's fine, but he's not going to knock him out early. If Khan wins it's on points, imo, and if Maidana wins it's by KO.

Khan needs to step it up now, if its not going to be Maidana then it has to be someone ALOT more credible than Salita.

On Haye - it will be interesting to see how he fights any guy a good 4/5 inches bigger than he is. I would have been interesting to see the sparring of him and Price - my fear for Haye is that he likes fighting tall, has been the taller guy most of his career.
