How much do you drink at the boxing?

I like to have a few pints when I go to the boxing - normaly try to miss the poorer undercard fights and nip out for cheeky pints. Don't like to get too hammered as you don't really remember the fight - but I find boxing is not very good at letting you know waiting times for fights - it would be good if you KNEW there was a 30 min break where you could nip out for an ale.

If its a big show I tend not to drink, but on the small hall shows where they have the 10 minute that lasts 30 minutes plus I might sneak out & have the odd one just to break up the boredom.
Also I watch every fight even the undercard fighters as you never know if you might be witnessing a gem of a fight or someone that has come up under the radar. Would hate to think that I stood in the bar & missed a future champions first or second fight.

Tend not to have that many in case I miss a fight and with queues etc can be a pain esp. at late fights as you get gangs of guys doing nothing but drinking and standing around waiting for Hatton/Joe C to come on which can be quite intimidating going for a leak or for a sly pint.

Manage to sink a few at O2 fights as the facilities are excellent with no queues etc.

am one of them if he has a few he has to get smashed so i dont drink at the boxing plus i dont want to miss any fights

I don't have any,i watch all the undercard fights to get my moneys worth.

I went out to Germany to see the Skelton Vs Chaegaev fight and you could watch from the bar with a great view of the ring - bad mistake, had a pint in my hand all night and the main event passed in a blur!

I used to drink heavily at the big shows as my friends who are casual fans as they are much more likely to come along if its an all-day drinking session as well!When the shows end at 3.00am it results in a big piss up(the bar at Hatton-Tszyu was ridiculous,it was like having a fight getting served).I drove to Khan-Kotelnik and was suprised how much more i enjoyed the whole show been sober and was disgusted with drunken behaviour all around me!

As I sometimes cover the shows I can hardly drink. Imagine...'sorry Ian, I missed that fight, I was stuck at the bar'

Even when I ain't working I dont drink, too many people, too much time, too much action missed!!!

I always head to Boxing with allot of lads so we enjoy a good drink before hand and make an afternoon of it. By no means get too drunk, but all the banter before hand in the pubs, predictions, anticipation and what if's ect. Makes for a great time. When I get to the boxing I might have a drink between the bouts if there is time, but I generally stop drinking when there and watch it all.

I tend to drink before i go into the Arena & after i leave, usually find that most arenas have terrible lager so no point in waisting money on it.

I usually drink before and all the way through - and then after.

My fave party trick is to get a large soft drink with lid/straw , empty it and pour a pint in then sip it through my straw.

The adrenalin usually keeps me pretty sober.

Although at a recent fight, i had to close one eye to see the action as i thought there was 4 boxers in the ring.

I'm not a lout in any shape or form - but you cant beat a beer with some of the lads at the boxing.

Be rude not to !

I think Whicker might have a few things to say about this.
It's each to their own but for the life of me, why pay to watch boxing, but get pissed instead ?
If you need a stimulus to watch it, why bother ?
I'm no angel, but I would only have a social drink as soon as the doors open, then a drink after the event is over.
Mac if you're not bothered about the undercard why not simply watch it on the box, or in the local ?

Depends on the venue. I don't like to miss the boxing at last prizefighter had a drink between every fight.

I tend not to drink if watching on TV either.

depends - if I'm going to a show I'm usually going with a group of mates and, normally, that will involve a late lunch and a few pints before we arrive. I wouldn't say we'd spend too much time in teh bar at the venue though - you either have to miss the fights to go, or wait through interminable queues!

I was hammered for the Dunne-Cordoba fight but that was because Ireland bet Wales to win the Grand Slam earlier in the day. I could only really remember the knockdown rounds and had to watch it the next day to see it properly. In general I tend to have a few pints before the show but not get slurry worded and goggled eyed. At Dunne-Poonsawat I was the designated driver and was on Cokes for the night and I really enjoyed it apart from the result of course.

the haye vs valueve fight they had fit german birds bringing beer round and the combination of that and the german strength beer could have been dangerous

but we had a few before, a few during and remembered all the fights. but remembering how i got back to my hotel, not a clue

i do drink but only early in the night , i dont like to miss any of the action but it does happen sometimes , depends who im with , but when it gets towards main event , its too much hassle to que and plus you end up needing to go toilet and queing again there , nottingham arena when froch fights is a nightmare to go for a drink or piss .
