Schmeling took him out but not in one.
Speaking of Schmeling, he was stopped in one also before he was champ.
Gipsy Daniels.
That one I had to look up.

As an amateur, Luther McCarty was kayoed in one round by Harry Hollinger in Sidney, OH where I was born. Its chronicled in the Sidney Historical Society, the amateur bout was held on the court house lawn, as was the custom in those days in Sidney.

Wild Bill Hanrahan pulled off a big surprise ko1 against Marvin Hart. Diener beat Carnera in one in a kinda knockout.

Depends on your definition of champion. Neither of those men would make my list, for instance. They are each unrecognised.Adamj1987 wrote:i can only think of 2

I suppose you insulting another poster with sarcasm is a relevant post?granberry wrote:collins' boy grimm trashes boxrec with another completely irrelevant post.Grimm wrote:granberry wrote: You are definitely missing 'something.'

Re: Heavyweights that were LKO1 but went on to be champion?
collins boy grim is concerned about relevancy.
collins boy grim couldbn't even tell us what the topic of this thread is, since grim was sent here as collins' stooge with another tired ad hominem attack of the type that turns boxrec into a toilet.

Sorry, I missed that it should be a first round knock out, not just a knock out.
I did not miss you, Granberry.

Granberry....Instead of responding in a "positive way" and helping this gent, your response was what most might perceive to be "somewhat sarcasitc".Grimm wrote:I suppose you insulting another poster with sarcasm is a relevant post?granberry wrote:collins' boy grimm trashes boxrec with another completely irrelevant post.Grimm wrote:

So, can you consider helping as apposed to slamming someone here.
Thank You
Next... GRIMM you and Granberry both proceeded to destroy and block the flow of the productive discussion here. I want to contribute and also learn from these discussions , so don't turn brainstorming sessions into childish bantor.
Thank You
What you have contributed Grimm and Granberry is considered "NO VALUE ADDED".
It shows me that you have no-respect for anyone else especially since they have taken the time to log-in, do research and inform others like myself.
Thank You again

Mike Weaver came close. He had two second round KO losses and a third round stoppage early in career. He did lose the title by one round KO.

I don't think dives count. Heh.Expug wrote:"Fireman Jim" Flynn belted out Jack Dempsey in 1.
Didn't somebody get Schmeling in the first early in his career?
