ONE HD jump on the MMA bandwagon
They're showing UFC 110 live from Sydney for free. The card is stacked too so this is awesome.

Re: ONE HD jump on the MMA bandwagon
It's a great way IMO for both the UFC (MMA as a whole, to a lesser extent) and for One to get more exposure. Yea, it would've cost One a package and is a bit of a financial risk in the short term but good work regardless.
As for ppv status, it's not uncommon for the UFC to have a free-to-air card when they're debuting in a new country. The UK has had a few this year and I believe, could be wrong, Germany had it free this year too when they debuted there.

Re: ONE HD jump on the MMA bandwagon
how many times do u c kickboxers avago at boxin & get the crap belted out of'm.
Re: ONE HD jump on the MMA bandwagon
A fight is a fight is a fight, the more rules (no rules fighting has so many rules it's due for a "False Advertising" style law suite!) the more skill needed, I believe, but no matter what rules, a fighter is still a fighter and faces the same risks, fears and anxieties as any other (evenly matched) fighter.

Less often than they belt the crap out of the boxers!caveman wrote:how many times do u c kickboxers avago at boxin & get the crap belted out of'm.
Re: ONE HD jump on the MMA bandwagon
I've never understood why guys choose Kickboxing over boxing, the money is shitt in Kickboxing, you could be a world champ in Kickboxing walk the streets and noone would know who you are, by the end of your career you cant walk or have leg problems. :??dberry wrote:Less often than they belt the crap out of the boxers!caveman wrote:how many times do u c kickboxers avago at boxin & get the crap belted out of'm.
Agree Kickboxers struggle once converting to boxing, some don't, but 95% do, one thing i have noticed about Kick boxers is they lack good movement.
My best Example for a guy who chooses Kickboxing over Boxing is Ben Edwards....What a talent...what a waste
Re: ONE HD jump on the MMA bandwagon
not sayin UFC contestants cant fight; just not into it. obviously all combat sports ( specially at the highest level ) have to have a certain degree of skill. how did the ''preacher'' go, wasnt he considered one of the best kickboxers runnin round. he hasnt won a boxin match yet has he?
Re: ONE HD jump on the MMA bandwagon
Kickboxing is fun, challenging(on a different plane to boxing), and used to be (in the early nineties at least) so much more money involved on a domestic level. In Australia's heyday of kickboxing (90-96) we had a lot of kickboxers, who, with their superior core body strength, made great inroads to pro and am. boxing. Ronie Doo, Alex Tui, Jason De Lisle, Dale westerman, Tasis Petridis, Adam Watt, Leo young jnr.The Briggs twins etc. To name but a few that come to mind from that era alone.
although I have to agree with you about the legs as I can only just walk without a limp in summer!

Re: ONE HD jump on the MMA bandwagon
i stand corrected. u have mentioned a few good ones there, i'm just biased to boxin. each to there own
