Rees v Alexander?
Boxing News are reporting that Rees might face Devon Alexander on March 6th.
I can't believe it though as Rees isn't even ranked by the WBC and the Urango bout it supposed to be on HBO.

Nothing is in place as yet and Gavin didn't know what the situation is with Urango. It could be that Don King expects there to be a problem with Urango and is covering his back so that he doesn't lose the date.

Yea sounds like Rees is a back up plan. If Rees does get the call I hope hes paid well because the beating will be worse than the Kotelnik fight, which was pretty bad, although not as bad as the commentating that night, who had Rees winning
Well done on Bunce telling them off

I thought this thread might have created more interest. It's got 33 comments on Eastside. Maybe the title of the thread needs changing.

33 uninteligble replies no doubt.Wake up call wrote:It's got 33 comments on Eastside.
Re: Rees v Alexander?
I don't think Rees has any chance at winning.
Re: Rees v Alexander?
Good opportunity for Rees (not one I think he'll win) but it's a shame he can't get himself back down to lightweight and get in the mix down there. Is Mitchell still in need of an opponent? Will Frank want to work with any of those Welsh boys again?
Re: Rees v Alexander?
Mitchell is fighting Limond according to Sky's schedule. But I agree, he should get himself down to lightweight. Although his workrate/fitness can never be questioned he does sometimes look a bit fleshy.Lenny wrote:Good opportunity for Rees (not one I think he'll win) but it's a shame he can't get himself back down to lightweight and get in the mix down there. No-one with links to Calzaghe has any chance of working with Warren ever againLenny wrote:Good opportunity for Rees (not one I think he'll win) but it's a shame he can't get himself back down to lightweight and get in the mix down there. Not being ranked it the top 10 has never been a problem for a long time now,if the fight does happen then rees will get a real beating i think and then will be in a worse position than he was after kotelnik beat him with nowhere else to go.whatashambles wrote:Boxing News are reporting that Rees might face Devon Alexander on March 6th.

Re: Rees v Alexander?
Rees should move down to Lightweight if possible, Alexander would be too big, strong and fast and win on points I think but at LW Rees would be a beast so strong and fit and powerful as well.

From Gav himself

Re: Rees v Alexander?
I think he covered this when he said: “I said I wouldn’t box at light-welterweight again but obviously for a world title I’m willing to fight at the weight again. It’s a great chance for me to get the WBC belt, but if not I’ll come back to lightweight.”
Re: Rees v Alexander?
Alexander is on a totally different skill planet to Rees, whom i really cant understand has got this chance.
That said, i wish him luck.
And i will add that at least he's got the balls to give it a go unlike some other so called reigning champions who are looking to vacate a title because their team is scared of the mandatory.
