If they are still planing the Mayweather fight for later in the year then it's a good fight. Certainly Mayweather's opponent won't be as good as this.

stylewise Clottey is EXACTLY the kind of big welterweight Pac can deal with easily IMO

Realistically they are hardly going to fight somebody who isn't when the Mayweather fight could still be made in the future, it will be a lot tougher than Matthew Hatton

The previous talk was Foreman but that could have thrown a massive spanner in the works

Im not in anyway criticising this as a warm up, but Ive not seen any evidence anywhere that the mayweather fight will go ahead. Its all hope isnt it. If its floyd thats refusd the fight then I'd be worried about it happening at all.

Tough fight for Pacquiao but he should have enough skill to beat Clottey comfterably imo outboxing him in and out with fast combinations. It is a step backwards as his last 3 fights have been De La Hoya, Hatton and Cotto all were seen as good fighters whereas Clottey is deemed as tough and avoided. Still a reasonably good match though.

I think Clottey could mess up everything if this is true. Straight sharp punches and counters like Marquez. Strong as an ox, by far the strongest Pac has faced. Great jab. Impregnable defense and has beat a similar style in Judah. Pacman could be in trouble, although he may just outspeed and outwork him

Clottey is cut out of rock, great defense, chin, countering, no chance hes getting stopped. I dont remember him being hurt in his career either

Cotto hurt him.

I think Pac will stop him also, he throws too many punches. Pac absolutely toyed with Cotto - punched himself out a little towards the end, but Clottey doesn't have a great engine.

Judah buzzed him NICELY with an uppercut in their fight but was too busy admiring his work to follow up

Either way. Good fight for Pacman to take but wouldnt he better off taking on somebiody who hasnt lost to the guy he just fucked up

What's to say Clottey isn't 'also' cheating if there is no drugs test and if he is also a Top Rank fighter? Exactly.

Very true, I actually think Clottley CAN stop PAc, Pac is way overrated imo.

I don't know why people are unhappy with this match up, many thought Clottey deserved the decision v Cotto and certainly had Cotto in touble few times in the second half of the fight. I know he comes off a loss to the guy Pac just beat, but he has a defence and won't open up wildly like Cotto does when he's caught.

Plus as somebody else mentioned, you can almost guarantee this will be tougher than the replacement opponent Mayweather fights
