I only weigh 14 stone, not 22 stone.
Some years ago on another site, I had a long exchange of banter with Ben which made out I was the Pressman you speak of, and a lot of people fell for it so we carried on for a while.
I'm devout Owl - Carey devout Blade.
I've known Ben for a long time.

nice one ben. Ive a lot of time for ben as hes helped me a lot when starting out. Top lad. Good luck.
Re: Ben Carey
yes, ben is a top lad and knows his stuff.
he was flying high and rated as a top prospect but then took a risky match with suzanne nield (?).
carey was doing well but then backed up to the ropes on the maloney-promoted show and took a few hard shots right on the jaw. his loud, and inept, cornerman screamed at him to go for the finish but that meant he left himself open and the tough yorkshireman ended up getting pummelled.
he was too brave for his own good, and refused to tie nield up for a few valuable seconds to buy time to think.
ben's confidence clearly took a knock that night but it's good to see him back where he belongs. the experience of that fight will surely stand him in good stead for the future.
meanwhile, the hideously disfigured cornerman slinked off into the shadows while nield retired soon after following repeated accusations of low blows and sucker punches.

Re: Ben Carey
great stuff from boxrec. ben carey and spud tried for years to set up competing forums... esb, doghouse, boxingtalk... after being banned from each, spud came here. and now carey works for boxrec.
boxrec = always number one british and irish boxing forum!

Anyway, if Veriton is who I suspect, then he already has a paid boxing journalism gig.
Re: Ben Carey
C'mon. We all know Suzanne is actually Shaggy. It's his Sat night gig. Sam broke the scoop years ago.
Re: Ben Carey
Forgot about stirring that story.... that got some mileage telling people it was Shaggy in disguise.
Having seen allof the e-mails etc... I can honestly say that Miss Nield did indeed bend Carey (and everyone at UKBoxingPress) over and royally fornicate them.

Did she have an uninteligible Wythenshawe accent and have a penchant for lemon drizzle cake?
Re: Ben Carey
She did have a lot of facial hair!

Oh God not him, anyone but him :)Ben Carey wrote:Happy New Year guys and I genuinely appreciate the well wishes from all of you.
I've known Ian for years and we've always remained on good terms and enjoyed several beers together when I used to live in Sheffield. We're a similar age, similar waistline and have many little'uns rampaging around our housesDD . Combine that with a genuine love for boxing and a mutual silver tongue and I think we'll be a good combo. It's nice to be part of an excellent team that is already in place and I'm looking forward to getting to know the rest of the lads.
Best wishes,
Ben
