This sounds a bit like "Y Tu Mama Tambien" ? I could be wrong though as Tambien was Mexican...Amores Perros is a class film, i will definately be looking out for "The Vanishing" though it sounds really good!

The star of Amores Peros is the lead in "The Motorcycle Diaries" which is well worth a watch.

Yes Tu Mama is Mexican, same director as Amores - Alejandro González.

Avoid the American remake of The Vanishing at all costs! A really terrible mess. It's the 1988 version that's a classic:

Yeah i watched it and it is not too bad, quite dark but well acted. I just had in the Motorcycle Diaries and the original Nikita so looking forward to watching those over the weekend

Y tu mama tambien was directed by Mexican Alfonso Cuaron who then went on to direct Harry Potter III.
Mexican Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu is the one who apart from Amores Perros directed a sequel of 11'09''01 and 21 grams. Anyone seen both AP and 21 grams? 21 seemed like the US-American version of AP to me.
Both, Cuaron and GI seem quite happy in the USA.

Looking forward to watch Motorcycle Diaries as soon as it is out on video, although am not a huge fan of actor Gael Garcia Bernal.

Goodbye Lenin is doing the rounds on SKY at the moment...it's a funny premise but pretty sentimental at the same time...give it a try

Wow... it's cool to see there's some Takashi Miike fans on the board - I've seen Ichi The Killer, the Dead or Alive trilogy, City Of Lost Souls, Happiness of the Katukaris, Fudoh, Deadly Outlaw Rekka and Gozu, but my favorite Miike film is by far Audition - it's more restrained than his usual stuff, but the last half hour or so is extremely harrowing.

Someone else mentioned Funny Games - I second that; it features some great ensemble acting, but the director has fun (hence the film's title) toying with the viewer's expectations. If you're tired of predictible movies, Funny Games is worth checking out.

Currently one of my favorite foreign language movies is the Argentinian Nueve Reinas (Nine Queens) - it's nothing too extreme - it's a con artist movie... sort of an homage to the films of David Mamet (House of Games, Glenngarry Glennross, and The Heist). It's got a great script and it has some great twists and turns in the story.

Funny Games is a good film, another Michael Haneke film worth watching is 71 Fragments of a Chronology of Chance.

Yeah i mentioned Funny Games in an earlier post, it is Austrian and fornicating crazy!! Just watched Nikita...i was pleasantly surprised it ws pretty good.
