Ryan Rhodes

Post by Wales »

I think Ive finally got over the shock, and can now move forwards and speak of ryan without involuntarily shouting "arrggghhh" everytime I speak his name. Anyway, enough of all that, the pills and therapy are helping me no end.

What are Ryans upcoming plans? Its three months since he won the title, so surely team Rhodes will be looking at announcing their first defence pretty soon... any updates?

Wales,
There you go again, comparing Rhodes to Moore :TU:
It's well documented that Baysangourov messed Jamie about - but the roles were the opposite then.
Baysangourov was the Champ.
It all comes down to cash mate ultimately.
If he does mess the Rhodes camp about then he endangers losing his ranking.
To date the Baysangourov camp haven't been looking for a way out, in fact the opposite.
The ideal would be to have a deal in place pre purse bids but that hasn't been possible.
Let's see what Thursday brings.
You never know, there might be no one interested !!

I watched Baysangourov in his last fight and I wasnt that impressed Rhodes should definetly beat him, if he fights him.

Ha ha, not comparing, just thinking if he bottled coming to the UK for Moore will he do the same for Moores conqueror.

If the Russians win the purse bids I'll come along to Kiev and we can all run up and down snowy mountains, chase chickens and do all the other things from Rocky IV.

Ain't it typical ?
I've sat here freezing my bollocks off looking forward to some sunshine and watching boxing, and what are the options ? Sheffield or f***in Kiev.
What will be, will be mate.

Baysangurov would be an excellent bout - I'd see Ryan Rhodes winning it comfortably on points.

Baysangurov has signed with the Klitschko boys now so they may be able to stump up a few bob and get Ryan to Kiev although they are notoriously frugal with there roubles, (hey that rhymes)

Think this is a much tougher fight for Ryan than everyone else by the looks of it, I always thought Baysangurov was only slightly less of a fighter than Moore and did not think there was actually much to choose between the two.

Baysangurov is good at what he does and I would not like to see Ryan have to go to Kiev as I think he would be outworked out there and they would take less notice of his countering and better boxing skills, leaving him with only the one way of winning.

Of course he can do it as Bundrage stopped the guy and Ryan would compere ok power wise with him.

Lets hope the purse bid goes Ryan's way, it would be good to see him make a run of defences

Is there no movement on Martinez then 26? Or has the Pavlik camp screwed things up!

I thought the winner from October was going to be made mandatory.

IF K2 win, perhaps it would be decent for their Dusseldorf bill on March 20 with Wlad. Would make the card more attractive to British TV.

Hopefully a Brit promoter will stump up the cash though, I suspect one will.

There is no movement at this stage regarding Martinez.
There was a strong rumour recently he was vacating, but that is officially not the case.
Everyone is waiting on the WBC right now.
Will Martinez fight Williams again ? If he does, at what weight division ?
Will Martinez fight Pavlik ? If so at what weight division, and what title(s) will be at stake ?
Is Cintron staying at Light Middle ?
Will Chavez be banned ? but again the rumour is regardless he's moving up to Middleweight.
At this stage Rhodes has to get on with business and let the boxing politicians sort things out.
Purse bids expire at noon tomorrow for the EBU Mandatory defence against Baysangourov.
Rhodes is jointly managed by Wazza.
He is a free agent Promotionally.

They can fight in my garden if they like. Should be able to fit a few in me shed for covered seating. I also have decking for tiered seating. :TU:

2010 Martinez staying at 154

With rumors swirling about what will be happening with the WBC 154 lb. title, champion Sergio Martinez has come out to set the record straight. In short, Martinez has no plans on relinquishing the belt anytime soon even though he fought his last fight at middleweight. “Everyone who knows me knows that I cherish the green belt more than any other accomplishment I’ve ever had in boxing,” said Martinez. “If people are looking for an excuse to become champion without fighting me, I have bad news for them. I plan on being WBC champion for a long time.”

We'd already heard it EPNG from the Martinez team.
Now it's up to the WBC to decide who his mandatory is.

As for your other question the answer is simple - yes.
Rhodes is no different from , say, Sugar Ray Clay whatever.
