Return of Kevin Lear??

I've seen that Kevin Lear is pencilled in to make his comeback against Paul Halpin on the Skelton bill (25th Feb).

Can anyone verify this? I had heard he might never fight again, but read any interview with his trainer who said he was nearing "match-fitness".

Could be a very interesting addition to the Gomez/Arthur/Docherty mix!

According to Frank Maloney "I am delighted to tell you Kevin Lear will definitely be boxing again. I saw Kevin spar the other day, he was sensational. Kevin will box in a couple of fights and then we will look for a big fight for him".

Apparently they are looking to match him with Arthur and Gomez.

I will be very interested in this comeback, I'm still not convinced about this "new" Michael Gomez. In hindsight I have the feeling that the Gomez might have beaten Arthur at anyrate at that time (not saying he will beat him now), and really Gomez is just the same fighter who struggled vs Lear. I think his performances' since the Arthur fight haven't all been flawless.

It will be very interesting to see Lear back in the mix, he was rated #1 at the time of his injury - will be very interesting to see what he does now.

The domestic Super-Featherweight scene is indeed looking very interesting at the moment with the likes of Gomes, Arthur, Limond, Docherty and Lear.

Yes and with Johannson, Rutherford (?), Thornhill (?), on the fringes also.

I think Thornhill has retired now. Some good matches to be made at super feather no doubt

Oh, did he retire after the Foster loss. It was a cracking performance buy Thornhill and I think he will be better at Super Feather.

That's a double surprise not only seeing Lear due to fight again but Halpin too. He officially retired some time ago. Halpin's got a poor record for pulling out of fights don't hold your breaths on this one. Shame, because Halpin's a very good box-fighter.
