Much as I hate to bring it up...
Leonard Duran II
Corralles Castillo II
Gatti Ward II (more limited degree certainly)
Every Robinson victory over Lamotta
and in a odd three/four way drama
Duran over Barkley in the overall historical wake of Hearns losses to Barkley and Duran's loss to Hearns. Might want to add to that Duran's relatively better outing with Hagler as well for the same reason. Though the excitement of that fight was pretty flat in comparison.

Hearns - Leonard II (maybe not the result but Hearns made his point)
Never have I seen one guy so relieved than Tommy when he first drops Ray. All those years of being told he couldn't win the big one. All those years of thinking he'd never get his chance to put the first fight right.
You can see the weight lift from Hearns' shoulders as Leonard gets up and moves backwards.
Hearns was alwasy one of my faves and it was no less than he deserved for being such an entertaining boxer.

De La Hoya speaks very passionately in his bio of the success against Vargas.
Re: Sweetest revenge?
Poor buz will never know that the Leonard/Duran second 'fight' was a raw fake.
buz thinks the Liston/Ali fakes and the Duran/Leonard fake are 'boxing'.
LOL

Jones Jr v Griffin
Re: Sweetest revenge?
Hey granberry, I'd love to go along with that particular conspiracy regarding Duran. Duran is right at the top of my list of favorite fighters. I'll work on trying to buy into that one.granberry wrote:Poor buz will never know that the Leonard/Duran second 'fight' was a raw fake.

Langford-Flynn II.
After a questionable draw in their first fight, Sam pointed to where he'd deposit the Fireman on the canvas during the ref's instructions, and then proceeded to do exactly that.

Baer over Galento, & Zale's second triumph against Graziano would rate highly.
How about Barrera's first win against Morales? By that time, these two fucken despised one another, & after what appeared to be a Barrera victory in the first fight --- but which went to Morales --- it must've been mighty satisfying for Barrera to seemingly lose the rematch, but get the nod.
Double-dose of sweetness for the Baby-Faced Assassin that night, IMO. He really couldn't stand Morales, & vice-versa.

I heard Hearns always used to ask Emmanuel Steward after every fight if the fans were entertained. He could've easily been a boring boxer if he wanted to.Ezzard wrote:Hearns - Leonard II (maybe not the result but Hearns made his point)
