Carl Webbs Weak Performance & the PPV
Carl Webbs Weak Performance & the PPV
What a joke.
Co-Main event
What a BulSH%& card it was ..... the contender fights were good but i could have watch them for Free on Fox 8...
And how many ads were there! I thought by paying to watch the fight that there was no ads???
Main Event should offer people refunds..

yeah it's getting worse by the day.....
Re: Carl Webbs Weak Performance & the PPV
I saw film of Webb at the weigh in. He looked like he was carrying a lot around the middle for a boxer.
Re: Carl Webbs Weak Performance & the PPV
thats the thing,he is not a boxer. he was there to create interest in the card because the main event was so predictable .as r all of mundines fights

Re: Carl Webbs Weak Performance & the PPV
No wonder he just plays off the bench for the Cowboys and that the Cowboys are not that interested in giving him a decent contact.

Re: Carl Webbs Weak Performance & the PPV
THAT FIGHT WAS THE FUNNIEST SH!T iVE EVER SEEN.

Re: Carl Webbs Weak Performance & the PPV
Don't know if webs planning a career in boxing, getting a bit sick of these 30 year old rugby blokes trying to cashin with boxing after a long rugby career.
I would like to see some good athletes in rugby 25 and younger make the switch.
Feel a bit sorry for web but it's his fault, he didn't look well conditioned, he looked like chris Areola on roids
Too much fat on the gut.
He looked strong and fast but gassed way too quick.

Re: Carl Webbs Weak Performance & the PPV
Just seen the fight, and as a junior fighter he did'nt learn very much.
The poorest crossover fighter I have seen, it seemed at times that it was he first time in the ring!!

Re: Carl Webbs Weak Performance & the PPV
All I can say is good on carl webb for climbing in between those ropes, it's harder than most people here realize. Congratulations to Scott Lewis, you're a capable boxer, get fit and capitalise on this win, don't look back and train hard from now on and make the most of this fortune. Good luck.

Re: Carl Webbs Weak Performance & the PPV
Good Comment DBERRY. I tell you what else would be hard. Not fighting for 12 years and then having your first pro fight under with that pressur and crowd. Also he plays as a bench power front row. He is nearing the end of his pre-season training which given his position is mostly weights and power. Not to handy in the ring.
Carl should have gone for Gary Gurr and then retired with an unbeaten record.
As far as Scott Lewis goes I hope one of the promotors up in Townsville has the brains to match Mick King (local young heavy and Scott Lewis. Locals would flock in to see the North Queenslander avenge the defeat. It would be really easy to promote up here but I won't hold my breath.
Would be an interesting heavyweight fight for the locals with both blokes coming off two wins each.

Re: Carl Webbs Weak Performance & the PPV
He can throw them, i never seen a guy that big throw them that good, he looked good until he lost his wind.
I can see why he was a amature champion when he was young, he would have been very fast when he was smaller.

Re: Carl Webbs Weak Performance & the PPV
get real!
sure he had the balls to get in the ring, but it was down right embarassing.
ffs, don't dare start talking up lewis as capable. the guy is a bum. his form was terrible at best.
carl webb has been talked up for god knows how long like he was a gifted boxer who was gunna put hoppa and co. to shame.
he is now the laughing stock of aussie boxing

Re: Carl Webbs Weak Performance & the PPV
yes, it was rather embarrassing that's why it's important someone like Garry Gurr should have fought Webb. Then after a sure fire win, the media like how they called it on SBW "He's also got talent in boxing". LOL
Re: Carl Webbs Weak Performance & the PPV
The great irony is that in regular polls, Carl Webb is assigned by fellow NRL players as the player NOT to tangle with in a bit of the biff. After Carl's "Barry" of a performance in the ring, don't be surprised if a few of the NRL knuckle heads decide to test him out on the field this season.
Re: Carl Webbs Weak Performance & the PPV
Fair go, it was embarrassing, but nothing that told NRL Knucklers to come have a go.
Scott Lewis only had to land a slap on Webb he was that gassed come the beginning of the second round. Carl Webb was the better fighter, Lewis was the better conditioned.
I predict Scott Lewis gets stopped inside 3 in his next fight.

Re: Carl Webbs Weak Performance & the PPV
I'm tipping they both have done better at boxing than you guys, and I'm not trying to pick a fight or make enemys, in that they both have given it a go, got on national t.v., entertained a few people and given us something to talk about.
Re: Carl Webbs Weak Performance & the PPV
In the 70s you had to win a few fights to get a fight on Channel 7's boxing program. Charkey Ramon had a 6-0 record with 4 KOs when he had his first TV fight. Now anybody can get on TV for a fair size purse without having won a fight or, as in Webb's case, had a fight. Junior amateur does not count.dberry wrote:I'm tipping they both have done better at boxing than you guys, and I'm not trying to pick a fight or make enemys, in that they both have given it a go, got on national t.v., entertained a few people and given us something to talk about.
Re: Carl Webbs Weak Performance & the PPV
True, Brute, you also would of had ten or so fights before you got a state title shot, then it may have made front or rear page of the paper.
Re: Carl Webbs Weak Performance & the PPV
Nah! The back page was saved for dumb animals with little crooks on their backs, and I don't mean heavyweights.
