What Am I Watching?
Post some (fairly distinct, to make it reasonable) details about a fight, & see who can guess what you're watching. No new fights until the previous one is guessed correctly, or the originator gives it up. You should be reasonably specific, or it's just going to get too difficult.
Year: 2002
Division: Jr. Middleweight
Fighter A's Record: 34-2-0 (27 KO's)
Fighter B's Record: 22-1-0 (20 KO's)
Particulars:
The loser was cut under the right eye, & floored in round eleven. The winner was almost down in round one, & sustained a bad welt from the first stanza onward. The bout was billed as, "Bad Blood," & was probably the highest-profile affair of the year, next to Lewis-Tyson.

I think it could be fun, yes. The trick will be making it possible to guess, as there are just so many fights out there. You're right. Feel free to post a bout with the same (or similar) format as I usedDeno1986 wrote:Oscar De La Hoya vs Fernando Vargas.

Fighter A's Record:29-1 [25 KO]
Fighter B's Record: 25-1 [13 KO]
Fought in the blistering heat of Caesers Palace, Las Vegas. The eventual loser of the fight was winning up until the 15th round when he got knocked down three times, afterwards citing dehydration and exhaustion as a key factor. Considered by many to be one of the fights of the decade.

Re: What Am I Watching?
Year: 2001
Division: Super Bantamweight
Fighter A's Record: 32-1-0 (12 KO's)
Fighter B's Record: 41-3-3 (19 KO's)
Particulars:
I was eleven and it was the first great fight I ever witnessed.
This battle between two non punchers with huge hearts turned into an all out back and forth slugfest. Fighter B was badly hurt and nearly knocked down in the second round, but fought back and the two men traded blows furiously for the remainder of the night. Despite having blood pouring out of his left eye due to an accidental clash of heads, in the eyes of most observers Fighter B had done enough to claim victory. Therefore when a split decision victory was announced for Fighter A, there was considerable outrage.
They would have an immediate rematch five months later but this time there was no controversy as Fighter A steamrolled his way to a wide decision victory.

Division: Heavyweight
Fighter A's Record: 0-0-0, 0 KO's
Fighter B's Record: 5-4-2, 0 KO's
Particulars:
This fight --- officiated by a history-making referee --- ended in three rounds, in which the debuting boxer landed clean, effective shots to end the bout quite abruptly in front of a healthy crowd. After the fight, Fighter A remarked, "Man, I'm tough. This boy better quit, Lord have mercy," &, when asked if he was, in fact, too confident, replied with surprising dryness, "Yeah." Fighter B complained post-fight of a shoulder injury going into the bout, which hampered his performance.

Counter-puncher's fight must involve Fenech. I would guess at Fenech against the Mexican Mario Martinez.

Re: What Am I Watching?
It's not Fenech-Martinez. Sounds a lot like it, but Martinez's record doesn't hold up against the one C-Punch described.
Bennie's is Ali-Shavers.

Mine:
Year - 2003
Division - Super Middleweight
Fighter A - 36-5-3
Fighter B - 16-1-0
Particulars: After being disqualified in his previous fight, Fighter B knocks out hometown favourite Fighter A.
Edit: Another clue, both fighters had lost their previous bout to the same man, both controversially.
