it was past midnight before he got on and I didnt want to interview him before the fight and it was too late afterwards.

I stopped them (Lee Beard and Kieran) on their way back to the locker room and told them I would come down the gym and do a proper interview.

His would fella is Irish and as you can see from the shorts and tricolour gumshield holds his Irish roots close.

Greaves tried to bully him throughout the fight and I cant believe he never had a point taken off him or possibly thrown out of the ring. He was acting like a right cúnt, spitting, shouting in the ring, kicking the ring advertising off the apron, arguing with the crowd.

But Greaves showed a lot of maturity and wasnt afraid to come forward. Maybe Greaves was píssed off with coming on so late after being gloved up for over three or more hours but he acted without any class at all. Thankfully the result was....

I was impressed the way Thompson dug deep to win the fight with McIntyre when it looked like it was slipping away from him in the middle rounds.

Also Murray shifted up a gear after the first few rounds and was clinical and aggressive - very good display.

With a bit of luck Kieran Maher might have Deise roots, theres a lot of Mahers around Waterford so I'm hoping. :DD

Havn't had a local boxer to follow since the amateur welterweight Neil Gough.

Maybe he is a relative of one of Ireland's most accompolised fighters who also had the surname of maher???

Peter Maher (born March 16, 1869 in Gunnode, Tuam, County Galway, Ireland – July 22, 1940 in Baltimore, Maryland) was an Irish-American boxer known for his powerful punch. Early in his career Maher won the 1888 Middleweight Championship of Ireland, and the 1890 Heavyweight Championship of Ireland. After moving to America he won the 1895 Heavyweight Championship of the World match by knocking out Steve O'Donnell in the first round. In 1896 Bob Fitzsimmons defeated Maher and took the Heavyweight title
