How good is Ben Edwards

Post by Grant »

Has anyone seen him fight live?

I know he has only had two fights against Hoppoate and another, but I saw his fight on TV in July and was hoping he would continue.

Any gossip?

I just heard of him last year thanks to the BoxRec Australia & Pacific forum gang and I was impressed when I saw him on you tube.

I too wonder when we'll see him next.

He's good...can be plenty good in time to come. The "WBO rated" crop will probably want to avoid him in any event. Edwards can bang and he can entertain....

Good hands does not get intimadeted, has the skills will be good if he changes to boxing also has the youth to go a long way. Only time and Ben can answer that. :TU:

^^ good post. Ben has stated he prefers kick boxing at present. He recently lost to Paul Slowinski. Beaten by a better kicker. Ben has lots of heart and with solid training would make a great HW prospect. But as Colin said, it seems to be up to Ben.

I find that very hard to believe. If it's true, it would only be because he isn't a name yet in boxing, way more money in boxing than the other forms of fighting.

he carries a bit of excess weight around the midsection. it might help with his power but it would become a hinderence if someone pushes him into a war and the fight goes a few rounds...not sure how his stamina would hold up

I think he has said that he likes the extra padding to help him absorb shots...

Wonder if he's fair dinkum or just having a laugh. There are those guys that just have that physiology where they can be in pretty good shape but never look 'ripped up', like Joe Bugner. And I think these guys are really hard to stop with body shots. There's some people who think that bringing your body fat percentage really low, say 4-5% or lower, increases your risk of KO. At this stage some of the protective layers of fat around the brain and organs in the abdomen are removed.

Yeah but he wouldn't be at the national level too long, he's young so what ever decision he makes now might not hurt him as much in the future.
He would clean the Heavy division in Aus.

Have you seen him fight? Plenty of people jump the gun on fighters i don't just post here mate ;;-) .

Ok, why do i think he's a world beater already, because no one in the heavy division hits with the intent to kill, this bloke trys to drive his fist into the back of his opponents head. He's relentless in both forms of the sport and what a game face he has before entering the ring.

Scary, scary man.....hey.. just my Opinion.

yeah but u have to take into consideration that ben edwards has no intention of fighting more than 1 round. that's why he punches the way he does. if haumono for example attacked edwards the same way it would be just as likely that edwards would be put on his ass. also if edwards was to fight one of the better fighters and they boxed well and made the fight go into the 2nd or 3rd round, its very likely he would be exhausted and fall over by himself. we don't know because he has virtually no boxing resume.

So.....Oscar Talimeira should have cement in his jaw then, because he's got 2 sets of tyres and a spare around his waist but can't out the first round most of the time.
