Scott Dann to defend against Alan Jones

Post by mickeybeard »

Not seen Jones fight, but he has wins over Jim Rock and Donovan Smillie on his record. Also looks like he'll be the naturally bigger man at 6'1" and most of his fights around L.Heavy. Doesn'y look a puncher from his record, and has never been in a 12 rounder before. Anyone seen him/know much about him?

Know a bit about him, combines Boxing with farming. Jacko will know a bit more about him (having faced him).

Good speed, not much power, good mover though. Weight making is not an issue despite his size. When I had him in the Super Middleweight rankings, I was reminded that he is a middle and thats where he will fight in championship bouts.

Scored a draw against Foster and from what I have heard he was a tad unlucky with that verdict.

Big step up from 8 to 12 rounds, I saw him in the Summer (although didn't speak). Looked fit, even though he wasn't scheduled to fight. However, don't know anything about his stamina.

Could be an interesting fight, although Dann is the favourite.

Things could start to get very interesting in the British middleweight scene if the above mentioned fights happen.

I'm convinced Dann v Lockett would be an absolute belter, I might go to that one even if Sportsnetwork put it on (and I haven't been to a F Warren show since Harry Simon polished off Kevin Leushing). If Sanigar puts it on, even better, I don't have to break my boycott :D

Gary Lockett should batter Gray to defeat, I can't see Allan outboxing him for 10/12 rounds. If Dann also comes through in February (in Plymouth I've been told) then Dann v Lockett would be a serious thumbs-up. :TU: :TU: :TU:

Do think Jones can outwork Dann, Jacko?

Do you give Jones a chance?

I'd give him a chance yeah i have seen Dann and he cant take a shot it has been proved(Eastman-Jon Penn) Alan is clever he hits u when u dont expect it very good on his feet,i'd say Dann points...comfortable but no way easy :TU:

Disagree about Scott not being able to take a shot. Dann has shown a reasonble chin so far. He's come apart on two occasions, granted, but losing to Eastman should not be held against him. Credit Dann for going in with Howard in the first place. No other British middles would have stood a chance.

Taking everything Bendall had to offer and then proceeding to give him a real thumping shows good credentials at British title level and suggests the ability to hold a fair punch. A banger like Lockett could have something to say about that if the two should meet though.

Wanna meet up for a quick half before the fight Kev? Me and a mate will be in The Bank, a pub about 2 minutes from the Pavillions, at about 7 if you're interested.

Should be a decent fight. I haven't seen Jones, but I've been told he's no mug. I'll go for Scott to stop him late as the effects of the younger fighter's first 12 rounder really kick in.

It's behind the Theatre Royal, next to the fornicating horrible concrete monstrosity that is the Civic Centre. It's a chain pub, but it's a nice old building and should be relatively chav-free and a good deal cheaper than the Pavillions' bar. I'll be the scruffy pudendum with the beard. :D

Hope it's a good show guys. I know Chris and Jamie Sanigar have worked hard to put this show on with no TV backing.

Kevin, Can you let us know how Dan Guthrie looks as well please?
