I think Hatton Promotions will aim to get him a shot when Branco fights v Ukrainain for vacant title.

he is obviously ducking Mayweather
Re: Matthew Hatton looking at Euro title.
Would FW have options on Hatton if he won!!
Re: Matthew Hatton looking at Euro title.
I would like to see Brook v jennings happen. But is John O Donnell due a shot a British? O Donnell might be fighting in March I read somewhere for Commonwealth.

Give Matthew a break, most people thought Ndou would destroy him yet he got the draw and I had him nicking that one. If he can secure a European title chance fair play to him. Brook is gunning for the soon to be vacant WBO belt in any case by fighting Bienas in an eliminator of sorts.

Brook v Hatton would be the logical fight but cant see the Hatton's taking it, I think they'll go for a rematch with N'Dou or go for a higher level fight against a fighter not as good as Brook, if that makes sense

I agree totally, ok he's not really at top european level but he has improved no end over the last few years and I reckon he beat Ndou, so I think he deserves a shot at the european title. Lets face it, it's better than him fighting for a made up world title.black panther wrote:Give Matthew a break, most people thought Ndou would destroy him yet he got the draw and I had him nicking that one. didnt (whatashambles) in an earlier post just tell you he accepted the fight with brook but FW wanted options, why options, was FW not 100% sure brook would win,?alexpaterson wrote:Brook v Hatton would be the logical fight but cant see the Hatton's taking it, I think they'll go for a rematch with N'Dou or go for a higher level fight against a fighter not as good as Brook, if that makes sense
Re: Matthew Hatton looking at Euro title.
Depressing thing is that there are some potential cracking domestic fights at Welter, but they won't happen for one reason or another.
Fighters are happy to avoid each other, bypass titles, fight for wishy washy titles.
Matthew Hatton has never boxed for the British title, but why bother when there are IBF intercontinental titles and IBO world titles to be fought for?
Our current British champion is now lined up for a WBO intercontiental title, no doubt he will vacate soon (he may have done already? Not sure.)
This isn't a dig at any specific fighter, more a comment the way things are. British boxers don't seem to fight each other very often, which is a real shame, as when they do the bouts are often excellent.
At the end of the day, thats how it is now- but still, I'd love to see Hatton go up against one of the current top British Welterweights- can't see it happening though.

Alas, this is the nature of the sport these days, the proliferation of titles means that no domestic fighter need ever face each other, there are more than enough international and intercontinental belts to go around! It seems that even the EBU title (the proper European title) is heading in that direction now. You only have to look at whats happening at heavyweight, where no top european wants to fight for it. Luckily Paulo Vidoz always does, and has in fact lost 5 european title matches in a row!
As for Hatton, if Audley Harrison can get an EBU shot at heavyweight, of course Hatton can one as well, all you need is a good enough promoter and to be in the right place at the right time!

audley don't deserve a shot.
for winning that awful line up in prizefighter.
he didn't even look very good winning it either.
matt has just drawn with a solid international fighter like n'dou.
wouldn't be a disgrace if he got a shot at the european.

Re: Matthew Hatton looking at Euro title.
it's more a case of the domestic promoters not wanting to work together to make a fight happen.boxing_rob wrote:Alas, this is the nature of the sport these days, the proliferation of titles means that no domestic fighter need ever face each other, there are more than enough international and intercontinental belts to go around
american promoters work together to put on fights all the time.
our promoters rarely ever do. :>
