I'm really enjoying this wet and windy weather we're having...

Frank . . . We were scheduled to film outside today, on a hillside of the Universal Studios back lot. .
It was pouring buckets when I pulled into my parking space. I braced myself for a nasty day.
I was ready to "gear up", put on the boots, rain gear, etc. when a little angel of an assitant director approached me.

The cute little thing brought with her good news: "We've changed locations, we'll be on stage all this week."
Stage= Inside, warm, no rain, no mud, no fighting the elements, no tempers, no wishing I'd have studied harder and had a better career. DD

Yeah Frank, now I can enjoy the rain too, from inside!

I have to drive home in about twenty minutes. It's a long walk to the truck too. I'm not looking forward to it.

When I was younger and working on the MD-11 line I loved the rain. I was working on second shift, til midnight. I would go outside to the Pressure Pit with my tool box and with one or two of the other mechanics and we would park it under one of the wings and drink our coffee, listen to music, bullshit for a while and maybe talk boxing. I loved it. it was strictly volunteer because of the weather. We wouldn't see another soul all night long. Those were good times. The more miserable the weather the better I liked it. I don't go out in the rain much anymore.

NEVER CALL IT HOME AGAIN

During the 50's there was a lot of leaving the big cities and moving out to the suburbs. That was also a period for east coast transplants moving to the west coast. The mid 50's was when my parents came out to California.Many people did around that time. My dad ,being a Marine stationed at Camp Pendleton, convinced him that someday California would be in his future.

Hear someone from back east who comes out to California and he has one or two reasons. The weather in California is great(the west coast at least)and the neighborhood back home has gone to hell.

I used to go back to Chicago a lot to visit relatives,but those people are either dead or have moved away like my family did. Some have come out here to San Diego where I live. The last time,about five years ago,when I went back to the Windy City to the old neighborhood where my grandmother lived,it was a depressing site to see. The house isn't there anymore. The University Of Illinois at Chicago occupies the spot now. I guess it's safe inside the school perimeters,but step outside of that and you see a lot of hypes and whinos. Those trash cans with the fires inside of them to keep the bums warm in the winter. Litter sprewn along the curbs and sidewalks. It seemed that no one cared. Not a big pride in the neighborhood.

They say you make your own happiness. Lot of truth in that. Sometimes though when you go back home you realize that that home is only a childhood memory. So if I go back again,I'll know I'll take a drive past Polk and Oakley Boulevard. I know what I'll do this time. I'll stick my head out the window and yell,"Hey Uncle Chaz. Take that meatball sandwich out of your mouth!."

Randy, last week in St. Louis we had blowing snow and a wind chill of -15 degrees. Today its alot better - cloudy, foggy, wet and 37 degrees. Pardon me if I'm not too sympathetic that it rained on you guys today . . .

You talk a lot about Patron tequila. When I'm down in Mexico,I don't see much of it. They drink a brand called Jimador and they like Cazadores,but last night as I was watching the Chargers take it in the nalgas,I drank some Patron. Pete the Cop had a bottle of the stuff. I guess it comes in different labels. I was drinking the "Silver." Pretty smooth hooch. I broke out a couple of my cigars as we were watching the game. I found a cigar I like called Cameroon Especial. Made by Rocky Patel. Runs around 5 bucks a cigar. After about four double shots of Patron and a Cameroon Especial,I found myself rooting for the Jets.

As USC fans, Charlie and I might not have much to get excited about in the near future, but our alums are in the NFL mix.

Roger...I have some Jimador and Cazadores here at home, and of course Paton, imo Paton is lot more smoother, I like either the silver or gold labels. A close friend gave me a box of Majestuoso Master Series Cigars, the box was given to my friend who don't smoke anything and he know that I like a stogie now and then so he gave me the box, very smooth cigars

I was born in Montana, a place where it gets very, very cold in the winter. As a kid, the cold didn't bother me. Of course, we wore parkas, thick socks and mittens when we went outside on a cold day. Moreover, we lived in homes which were built with cold weather in mind.

I figured maybe it was the rain, that it kept people home. As soon as I got home I remembered it was MLK day. For everyone but Boeing employees.
