Are you sure thats not a picture of the Bruno vs McCall megabill where Hill fought Drake Thadzi and Benn KO'd Danny Perez? If you had the whole picture you would have seen Thadzi and Perez sat nearby also, I am sure - one thing though - and I am sure Buncey, Glyn Leach, Bennie or anyone else would attest - Nigel Benn wasn't down to fight Virgil Hill or any other light heavyweight champion. I might be wrong - but I have never heard of a scheduled fight between Virgil Hill and Nigel Benn for the WBA light heavywight title.

Benn linked to Hill, Andries or Harding at light-heavyweight? I've never heard it but I do know that Ambrose Mendy would say anything. Christ, he would have linked Benn to Monzon, Bob Foster and the prostrate Sonny Liston!

Just to add that Benn didn't knock down Rod Douglas in their second amateur thriller, but he did prove a bit too strong and powerful on the way to a majority decision.

Im actually reading Benn biography at the moment funnily enough...right shady character was Ambrose.

fair enough Carlos but as said those predictions were proved to be nonsense by subsequent perfomrances by the blade. Unless of course beating hearns over 15 was considered a gimme. Which i very much doubt.

How are you finding it? Despite being a huge fan of Benn I wasn't too impressed by the book to be honest, loved the story from his youth though where his mate used the cat as bait to distract the dog. :D

standardi twatted him he twatted me harder so i knocked him out type fair.

and thats just out of the ring.

not expecting ant great literature to be honest.
Got dark trade to read next which should be more challenging for the grey matter.

one thing i do find incredible in the book is Nigels casual attitude towards cheating on his wife n kids with other women.

Supposedly the love of his life that he could seemingly forget about and shag anything that moved.

Seems strange to me.

Didn't Eubank and Rod Douglas have some very lively sparring circa '87, Eric?
