Boxing books in charity shops.

Today for 50p I picked up Classic Moments of Boxing by Jack Hails, 1983 1st edition 8) and it's a cracking little read too. 50p lads.

Ages ago I picked up Benn's and Sonny Liston's biographies for £3 for both.

Always worth checking these places.

Pointless thread I know, but you never know what you might find in them.

go on amazon some very cheap boxing books for 1p you just pay postage and packaging also some cheap classics too or new releases for cheap

It's not that pointless a thread. I might head into the charity bookshop in town tomorrow to see is there anything of interest. I usually buy my books on Amazon like Matko as it's very cheap but if i can find something interesting I might as well support local business for a good cause.

Ive picked up some crackers in charity shops. "Benny" about benny lynch. A few ancient jimmy wilde books that r prob worth a few bob. That 1 bout Brian Hughes gym. Hands Of Stone about Duran. Audleys book.....

I once picked up 2 biographies on Henry Cooper in a charity shop for £2.50 and when I got home I found that one of them "H for Henry" was actually a signed copy!

Second hand book shops are also good as well. Make sure you haggle in them

what sort of guy haggles in charity shops your meant to make donations. people who linger around them shops like you saving yourself a few quid while charity's lose out on money is disgusting :!:anorack

I get a lot of my books from a discount book store. They are brand new but old stock so very cheap. I got Charlie Magri's autobiography, Joe Egan's book, The Big If, The Pride Poplar (Teddy Baldock) and The Last Great Fight for about £2 - 3 each.

I agree. Bought loads of books from charity shops myself there are loads of brilliant books in these shops, but sometimes they take some finding. Also seen plenty of books from other sports & with the money going to charity its a worthwhile cause. I usually drop them back off there once I have done unless someone in my family wants to read them.

This thread inspired me to go into my local second hand book shop

I couldn't pick up any boxing books but I managed to pick up Alex Higgins biography signed by the author for €3. Apart from a few bookmark triangles on a few pages and a small coffee/tea stain on the Contents page it's in great condition.

Nowhere Ive just been busy. Carboot sales are also good places to pick up bargin boxing stuff aswell.
