Duddy back on track thank God, and two new dates slated.

Post by slapbangwhallop »

Granted the opposition wasnt great but in truth was on a level with the guys that Darren Barker has been fighting.

But it looked like the old Duddy we came to know and love.

Looks like he is going to back out for the Pacman-Clottey undercard

Ah, so that would be a one-dimensional face-first clubfighter.

Carry on.

No, the affable humble brawler who is the antidote to the "anti-boxing" pitty-pat runners that are so prevalent in todays game.

Club fighters now heading at MSG do they?

Come on name one! There are 5 million of us afterall.

Back on track for getting a shot at a world title - Billy Lyell got one on the back of beating Duddy so why not.

Its a boring, lazy cliched to say Duddy is hyped - because he hasnt been. Has Duddy done better then other fighters with a similar level of talent? In my opinion yes, but that isnt because of hype. Is Duddy "overpopular"? yes, but "overhyped"? no!!

Duddy's fans and following have always been realistic about his talent and capabilities. But that is part of the reason that he is popular - because he puts it all out there and bashes away.

I think you need to figure out the difference between over popular and over hyped because I have never heard any fan hyping Duddy.

But your story sounds better! :TU:

He looked impressive last night all be it against an unheralded opponent. His punches looked snappy and and he was very accurate. I think against Lyell he was in the middle of being a boxer and a brawler and didn't really know what to do.

I have never seen or heard anyone say he was going to be a world champion, he isn't over-hyped, he is liked by boxing fans because he fights the 'Irish' way as the Yanks say - there's a big difference. He's a decent, exciting fighter with a bigger fanbase than most World Champions - he can sell out the Garden single-handedly. As Sligobhoy said - if Lyell has got a shot at a belt, Duddy deserves one too.

Bottom line he is nowhere near world class and doesn't deserve a shot at a title imo.

so tell me, what did RTE say??

Especially seen as they have only shown about 3 of his near 30 fights! (Hardly the actions of an oreganisation hyping a fighter!)

and Billy Lyall does?

moment he doesnt, but if he keeps winning and stepping up then he does.

Its funny that although Baker is facing fighters well below the level that Duddy does that you dont seem to hear the same ignorant hate towards him.

The majority of challengers for World Titles these days shouldn't be anywhere near a World Title but money talks and Duddy makes money through ticket sales.

Because noone is really talking about Barker getting a World title shot, I think Macklin and Andy Lee would both beat Duddy and probably Katie Taylor could too!

Look how defensive and abusive you've become when someone dares to challenge Duddy's credentials, you're obviously one of the Irish muppet's who believe that a club fighter can win a world title

yes, I am one of those muppets that is hyping him up that you cant name.

Just looking through your posts you are obviously a negative, bitter, sad wee twat that cant tell the difference between a popular fighter and a hyped fighter.

Irish fans are realistic with regards his talent, they just like his personality and enjoy watchin him him fight. If that makes me a deluded Irish muppet then so be it but I think any fair minded individual reading this can see who the won with the issues is! :TU:
