Does anyone know whether the Mosley v Berto card is going ahead without Berto?
the thing is tho mate, its not good for him 1 bit, groves would learn allot more by having a good spar than fighting this crab.

i cant believe a few people r trying to defend the choice of this opponent. 1 person even said before its not the teams fault and groves is going places in his third fight he beat samuels. that is my point. groves is class, how can he beat samuels in his third contest then fight this opponent, i dont mean to sound to disrespectful to his opponent but this fight makes no sense at all. its a step back and a big 1 at that. how people can say well they didnt have much notice. they had a few weeks, thats more than enough time to bring in some1 who can at least throw a punch back. there are countless people they could have brought in for this fight, some boxers would take the fight on a days notice so i dont know why people are chatting bubbles about they only had a few weeks. why not bring in a light heavy who being naturally heavier man, may give groves a good few rounds, i guarantee the second groves wants the kid out of there its over now how the hell is that going to teach him anything.?

say what yous want but the fact of the matter is this is a pointless fight. not even worth watching.
groves is a class prospect who can go very far in the game, but 5hit like this wont help him 1 bit. (sad it really is)

His opponent has never boxed below 176lbs and has never been stopped in his short career. :TU:
Having never seen the opponent, you're right he could turn out to be terrible. But he might give Groves some rounds too. I'll be honest, in a prospects first ten fights I'm not really that bothered about the level of the opponent, especially for a guy as young as Groves. At this stage in most cases most of the learning is done in the gym and the early fights are there to try out the skills and stamina they have learnt in training. After ten fights then maybe we can grumble if Groves is fighting this level of opponent but for now, a 21 year-old, seven fight novice fighting a "2-2" opponent is neither here nor there IMHO.

Understand he weighed in at 12st 7lbs - 175lbs.
Agree with you Panther.
Given time scales etc these criticisms aren't justified.

I am Surprized George has not really been tested and has been talking about titles........... While Degale, and jeffreys are moving up a level in there next fights..................................,Kenny anderson would of been a good test his fight fell through,Theres plenty Supermiddles and light heavy domestically if the money there.
not been tested?? do you not remember groves fighting paul samuels in his 3rd pro bout? the guy that degale is fighting next pulled out against groves last summer. groves is just being kept busy until his commonwealth title shot in early summer

This fight will probably be shown as highlights (regardless of how good/bad it turns out to be.)

I hope, at least , it isn't a pointless pushover.

I know how George is feeling and let me just say guys I wouldn't be a matchmaker for anyone!! It's the hardest job in boxing besides actually boxing.. I think Groves has been took at a great pace and is on the verge of title fight so he can't be doing that bad.. I agree this is a late replacement BUT I could very well believe at least 6 british guys have declined this fight..

He's knocking on the door for titles and ain't been a pro long so I say WELL DONE.. :TU:

I know what you mean but you wont spar with that many people it will get him used to fighting in front of many people and he'll be able to try stuff out thats he's done in training and bring that into the fight

to be fair, he was a game opponent- strong and musclular, and at least he tried.

We may well see him in the UK again.

You can't buy Paul's experience, It'd be a hell of a fight but to be totally honest I really don't see this happening unless Groves becomes madatory or something like that... Too many factors in this fight, Booth,Maloney dealing with Frank and co?? I don't know but it'd have to become a really big fight for the 3 of them to work together imo..

The other guy was a journey man and a punchbag who made Groves look average at times . Paul Smith would be to much for Groves ..............he has only boxed journeymen and you talking about paul smith who is quality........... I think degale and Dickinson are better boxers then Groves, Dickinson already stopped Groves twice......... .......... Adam Booth is matching George well but he has to be stepped up and he will learn nothing from boxing punch bags.............. :TU:

how did groves look average?? he got hit about 3 times. then knocked him down twice with head shots then a great body shot.what like fighting paul samuels in your 3rd fight isn't a step up?? maloney and warren wouldnt dream of putting htere boys in there with samuels. paul smith is quality?   thats a good un. did you watch smith vs quigley. smith only throws 1 punch the right hand that is so slow and telegraphed. give it 6 months and groves would ko him. how do you work out that dickinson is better then groves??? he nearly lost to rasani who has a terrible losing record and has been kayo'd 19 times. he won by 1 single point. the fight could have gone either way.dickinson did beat him in the am's but if they fought now groves would smash him.and travis stopped groves once then won on points in there 2nd bout mate. groves hasn't lost a round since turning pro and is going to fight for the commonwealth title in the next 6 months. i thought his oponent looked quite dangerous with them leaping left hooks. groves dfence needs to be tightened up for sure. alot of domestic fighters dont wanna face up and comers. appaently a few british fighters have pulled out on him. also groves was meant to fight matthew barr who chunky is facing now after the samuels fight but barr pulled out.

also mate i feel groves has had more experience then you think. look at the amount of sparring he has done with fighters like froch..fragomeni and is lined up to soar aa and kessler in march. that is vital experience. apparently he did 15 rounds with froch and 15 with fragomeni who are both world class operators. that is far more vital then fighting unkown opponents like he is at the minute :TU:

I'm still not convined that his defence is working well, he seems open the the right hand returns.
I like the way he scored the 1st KD on friday, showed a move then switched it to land that right hand, really smooth

I think he needs a couple more fights before he goes for the British title. I'm not a huge fan of Smith but he's probably got too much for Groves at this point.
