Miguel Cartagena got a boxing lesson from a 16 year old kid named Donald Smith this weekend. So watch out for those guys.
I'll post Damon's fight on youtube tomorrow.

i attended that fight and i thought damon allen won he out box and out classed omar douglas...the point the ref took from damon in the last round for low blow didnt help him at all! the ending score was 12-13
-i talk to damon allen coach/father and they said they are still going to the usa nationals at-large or on they golden gloves team if they win that
-i think damon allen will win the u-19 he matured his skills a lot
Re: u 19 predictions
So were the fights that Damon Allen and Miguel Cartagena lost in their LBC Senior Open tourney?
Re: u 19 predictions
Unfortunate, but true. They have to pick a cutoff and AIBA in their infinite wisdom decided to use the calendar year. It does make it easier for a lot of people to figure out if a boxer is eligible. Were they born in 1992 or 1993? Yes or no. That is simple.Coach Goldstar wrote:Bare in mind that there are some real good fighters that cannot participate because of the year that they were born 91. Regardless of the fact that some of the boxers would not turn 19 until several months after the world champion. Some as late as 6-9 months afterwards. So we have some very boxers that turned eighteen three months ago or even late as December that is consider too be ineligible that could win the tournament.

IT WAS THE MID-ALANTIC TOURNAMENT, IN PHILADELPHIA. NEXT IS THE REGIONAL TO QUALIFY FOR THE US CHAMPIONSHIP. MIGUEL, DIDN'T UNDERSTAND WHY HE FOUGHT. HE HAD A AUTOMATIC SPOT FOR THE US CHAMPIONSHIPS. GUESS HE THOUGHT HE HAD AN EASY WIN. OH WELL.Dennis wrote:So were the fights that Damon Allen and Miguel Cartagena lost in their LBC Senior Open tourney?
Re: u 19 predictions
I don't know if he just relinqueshed his automatic spot or not by competing in his LBC tourney. Usually you are not supposed to compete in the LBC & regional tourneys if you have an automatic spot. If you do and win, you are taking a spot away from somebody else. If you do and lose, you may have jeopardized your automatic spot. I guess we will have to wait and see. He still could get in by winning the NGG.

Yeah, I heard there aren't a lot of boxers there. No one from NY. Not a lot from DC. Great opportunity for those who are thought to win and get some good international experience. You didn't go either?Hasim Rahman Jr wrote:Timothy Moten vs. Joshua Temple at 201
