McDonnell v someone like Martin Power for 1st defence.

Then perhaps a rematch against Napa.

Then winner of Davis v Hall.

What was Dick Turpin famous for?

HIGHWAY ROBBERY!!

I got that after about 6 seconds, at first I thought it was something to dowith the Turpin brother from Warwickshire, post war fighters.

I don't thinkm it WAS Highway Robbery, but if Sky say it is, then than must be true, of course.

i am a yorkshireman and even I was surprised by the verdict. For me Napa won by 2-3 rounds. How can you score shots when they hit gloves, arms? he gets ripped off too much does Ian...

I know I'm a minority opinion here, but I think this is a good example why boxers and everyone else should know the scores as the fight goes on, rather than at the end.

Two reasons here.

Had Napa know the scorecards, he may well have been able to work on a gameplan to suit. He seemed to slow down a little in the last rounds- rounds, as it happened, he needed to win.

If the fans knew the score, it would have been a more gripping fight. I was sort of half-watching it- going off the Sky commentary it was effectivly over as a contest after about round 9 - they even said McDonnell was 33-1 to win, a good learning experience for him.

Had we actually known the score it would have been very very exciting to watch the last rounds. (I'm aware of the counterpoint here, thought. Had it say been Napa up 5 rounds on all cards, that would have taken the exctiment away by knowing the score.)

But all things considered, I'd prefere to know what the real score is- I think that would make it more interesting.

I just watched the replay on Sky and I stuck it on mute. I didn't see the fight on Friday so this was my first time watching it. I noticed that McDonnells defense was quality over the first 7/8 rounds and a lot of Napas body shots were hitting McDonnells elbows and his head shots were bouncing off McDonnells gloves. McDonnells jab and double jab really were excellent for the majority of the fight and won him a lot of rounds on my card, Napa landed a few good powershots in these rounds but they were not enough to take them in my opinion. Heres how I scored it:

R1: McDonnell - 10-9
R2: McDonnell - 20-18
R3: Napa - 29-28
R4: McDonnell - 39-37
R5: Napa - 48-47
R6: McDonnell - 58-56
R7: Napa - 67-66
R8: Napa - 76-76
R9: Napa - 85-86
R10:McDonnell - 95-95
R11:McDonnell - 105-104
R12:Even - 115-114
Total: 115-114 McDonnell

Dave Parris card was a joke but no way was this fight a robbery as some have implied on the thread, it could have gone either way or it could easily have been draw. Feel sorry for Napa as he is a likeable bloke - he was very graciuos in defeat aswell in the post fight interview.
