Jason Booth v Matthew Marsh
Will this be a routine defense for Booth or could Marsh throw a spanner in the works?

Good pics Leonard.
I have only seen Frampton once on youtube against a Hungarian I think. Good, solid defense and throws a lovely left hook. His combos all look real natural and fluid. Looking forward to seeing Carlos progress.

Well all are. Booth said he never heard of the Jackal before and that had three sparring partners and that Frampto was by far the best.Deno1986 wrote:Good pics Leonard.

There were three good rounds to start with, with Booth showing good footwork which caughtFrampton out a few times. Booth was zipping around the ring and clipping Frampton but he was also giving plenty back. Then Booth stepped it up in the forth and landed some heavy shots and after one heavy left hook to the head Booth asked Carl if he was OK, Carl laughed and pushed forward.
The last two rounds were even with both landing good bodyshots.

Re: Jason Booth v Matthew Marsh
Jason Booth defends his British super-bantamweight title in a controversial-looking showdown with former holder Matthew Marsh in Nottingham next month (February 5).
Hometowner Booth, one of those ageless types, is boxing better than ever but grasped a shot at the title because Marsh relinquished due to weight problems. Booth then scooped up the belt with a sharp six-round stoppage of Liverpool ex-amateur star Mark Moran last April 17. He has racked up two equally sharp defences since, so if Booth beats Marsh he will have clinched a Lonsdale belt for life in under 10 months, which must be some sort of modern record. I won't say it will give him something to drink about.
"Two Smooth" Jason mixes his shots up delightfully to head and body and gets stronger as a fight progresses. The wiry Marsh also has a reputation for workrate and stamina but is well out of his usual York Hall manor and lacks the boxing talent of Booth. One also has to seriously question the Londoner's ability to make super-bantamweight, particularly as he failed to get down in his two fights, one of them an English title encounter against Barnsley "Outlaw" Josh Wale.
The fight still went ahead and Marsh busted up Wale and finished strongly to take a 10-round decision, if not the title. However, would he have finished so well at 8st 10lbs? He scaled over the featherweight limit in his last fight in December: a six-round decision over Marc Callaghan at York Hall. He last made super-bantamweight in 2008.
The upshot is obvious. Booth, a long-time flyweight, is the form man, the home man, the much stronger man at the weight. He retains with a late stoppage.

Rendall Munroe faces Mexico's Victor Terrazas in a final eliminator for the WBC super-bantamweight title (held by Japan's Toshiaki Nishioka) in Leigh, Lancashire, on March 19.
Frank Maloney is quoted: "Rendall has been a fantastic European champion and faced every mandatory contender. Giving up his title is a possibility because there will be obligations expected...and it would be unfair to hold up other boxers like Jason Booth."

Re: Jason Booth v Matthew Marsh
Fantastic comback story is Booth - good to see him back on top. His best weight is probably bantamweight but can't see him passing up a chance to be British , Commonwealth and European champion at superbantamweight. Marsh is no slouch and I hope Booth isn't overlooking him, but Booth's class should tell.
Re: Jason Booth v Matthew Marsh
Leicester super-bantamweight Rendall Munroe finally steps up against Mexico's Victor "Viking" Terrazas in a final eliminator for the WBC title held by Toshiaki Nishioka of Japan in Leigh, Lancashire, on March 19.
The 29-year-old Munroe, a long-time holder of the European title, has also found the time to lift British and Commonwealth belts. He is clearly overdue this opportunity, particularly as bitter domestic rival Bernard Dunne won – and lost – the WBA super-bantamweight title while Munroe spent his days (and still does) emptying wheelie bins and his nights making five defences of the EBU belt. Last time out in November, Munroe proved his right in world class when he shrugged off a cut to outscore world class Italian Simone Maludrottu over 12 rounds in Nottingham. It took his winning run to 10 since Manchester's Andy Morris narrowly outscored him in a 12-rounder in 2006, which remains Munroe's only defeat in 21 outings.
Terrazas is on a winning run of 19 and has also lost only once (in 27 outings), on his debut back in March 2003; he was also held to a six-round draw by fellow countryman Saul Osuna in another early career fight, in 2004.
The visitor's competition is not up there with Munroe's and he's NEVER fought outside Mexico but he looks the bigger puncher of the two, with seven stoppages in his last 10. However, he's only ever done 12 rounds once, compared to six times for the superfit Munroe. "Two-tone" Rendall can do 12 rounds in his sleep, a big, strong, effective southpaw with dedication, hunger and home advantage.
While Terrazas, 26, looks an unknown quantity and obviously dangerous, Munroe must be the pick.

Re: Jason Booth v Matthew Marsh
I think like PaddyPower everyone thinks this is an Easy for Booth PaddyPowerhas him 1/10 Marsh 11/2
imo Booth dont hit hard enough to stop Marsh, i think it will be a great fight Both throwing Loads and Loads of Punches. Marsh has done the Weight Correctly this one, Booth with the slicker Boxing Skill's but Marsh not giving him an inch going to be a Great fight and ALOT closer then the Bookies and the Majority of you that think on here..

Re: Jason Booth v Matthew Marsh
I think Booth will beat Marsh handily. Too experienced and just too good. Booth is definitely Euro level but not world level. I think there's a fair chance that Munroe will be found out in that eliminator too. I hope he isn't but I don't think he has enough pop in his shots to get the respect of a tough Mexican, let alone someone like Nishioka. Would be nice to see him get the payday though and give it a crack.
Re: Jason Booth v Matthew Marsh
Booth can stop Marsh no problem. Matthew Marsh hasn boxed well for quite some time now and Booth is in then form of his life. He's been throwing some lovely combos, his work rate his excellent and he just looks like someone who's giving Boxing everything at this moment in time.
If I was him I wouldnt go for the European bantamweight title just yet as it's a bit of a risky fight and I heard the French guys are looking for an opponent for the same date as they had Napa down which would make it hard for Booth. I say beat Marsh, claim the Lonsdale to keeps and then have a look at that European bantamweight bout and then maybe go for it.

I do agree with some of what you say, in so much that it will be closer than what the bookies say...but don't agree that Booth doesn't hit hard enough to stop Marsh. In his last 6 or seven fights Booth has been really putting the power into his shots and landing some very decent punches.
IMO it will be a close first few rounds, but Booth will figure Marsh out and take over, stopping him around the 9th....
