Register, place £10 on Eastman, and you get a free £20 bet. Place £19 on Hopkins and £1 on the draw. The possible returns you you?

Eastman wins = £50
Hopkins wins = £22 (approx)
Draw = £26

The amount of your own money spent? £10.

You either make £40, £12, or £16 profit..and it doesn't matter what happens. Nice.

True, though an overwhelming favourite none the less has a chance of losing. What odds was Tyson against Buster Douglas? You'd have lost your £10. A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush.

(the £9 was as an example). You can bet to win £40 on Eastman "risk-free"...that was the point of it. But then let me guess... £40 is no use to you either.

That's impressive... so £48 minimum if you do all four.

However, would the betting shops let you do this... I have heard most are anti-arbing (arbitrage betting)

I'm unsure. I only use the online bookmakers. As I say, the above is something tried and tested that I've done personally (hence I'm comfortable recommending it to the board).

The bookmakers are aware that it's possible to do... it's just written off. They will just hope you stay with them and continue to gamble, allowing them to recoup over the longer term. Of course you aren't in any way obliged to do so. It's much the same as a high street bank offering £30 if you open an account with them (e.g. firstdirect.com do)

Yeah...for the four above-mentioned it took about 30mins of my time to sort out and I made about £50 or so... which isn't a bad hourly rate. £50 is better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick, so worth doing. You can only do it once (apon registering with them) but why not.

Is it so easy to open multiple accounts these days. I thought that the banking fraternity these days didn't like giving current accounts to people who already had an account elsewhere. They often want you to transfer your salary across don't they?

Very true, and somethign I may or may not have done

Not something I would recommend however, in case it technically constitutes fraud. I'm not sure that it does, but wouldn't tell others to do it.

Wouldn't work, realised yesterday. They ask you for your address when you register with the online bookmakers, they would probably red flag it.

I've passed this tip of yours on to all me mates though, and they're going to do it. There's actually a few more bookies who I think are doing the same deal you mentioned.

Well I confess to having done this twice, though in between times I did indeed have a different address and different bank account. I had no problems doing this both times and made a few bob on each occasion.

I doubt they flag addresses, but it’s possible. Card Numbers would be the key flag and this is the primary record on your account. Probably worth trying, but I couldn’t say for sure. For the Cheltenham Festival I plan to register my girlfriends name and card number (yes, with her consent!), though we live together at the same address. Be interesting to see if it works. I think it will. The offer is open to 'new account holders' so presumably this isn't limited to 'one account per address', but 'one account PER PERSON, per bank account'.
