Would have been fun as to watch live on TV.
That's true, I kind of meant coming back from a near-disaster. Mike Jacobs, by the way, the referee, lost his licence shortly afterwards.

Thanks for the preview. I wonder if Caldwell ever trained boxers after he retired from boxing?

In terms of the scoring....

Round 1

10-10 is a safe bet but that shot was good enough to have ended the fight. I'd be tempted to give it to Jumbo.

I have asked this questions several times in the British Forum but never got any answer.

Why did Jacobs lose his licence?

No, I don't believe it was anything to do with this fight.

It was a combo of bad refereeing. He allowed Mark Kaylor to be be floored five times by Buster Drayton, for example, before stopping it, and stood off as a big banger called John Maloney teed off on a clearly 'gone' Gary Nickels before stepping in way too late. On top of his Cummings 'stoppage', it was all too much.

I don't think it was a bad stoppage at all. Cummings would have just taken some more big shots . . he was pretty hurt.

Cummings was built like sh$% house but he was painfully slow and badly lacking in the skills department.

Opinion is opinion, but in my opinion Cummings was put down and the referee waved it off before he even allowed the man the chance of a count and a breather.
After his 'late' stoppages, refereee Jacobs was clearly under pressure to stop a fight sooner and blew it.

Jumbo got up and then went down again without a punch being thrown.

As you say opinion is opinion; mine is that it was a well-timed stoppage. Cummings was exhausted and he'd just had his senses scrambled; no point in letting it go on, in my opinion.

Jumbo was being dominated, and was hit well and hard.
I think it was a good call.
