Larios thinking ahead - but a great fight.

Apparently, Larios has inked a deal to fight Joan Guzman in a Super Bantamweight unification fight. Obviously, it will go to tatters if Wayne wins, but it does show that Oscar is thinking past Wayne.

I would tip Larios to beat Guzman (although what a fight) - simple reason, no way can Guzman make Super Bantam effectively, no chance.

Guzman is one of my favourite fighters (so is Larios) and I would tip him against certainly Pacquiao, Chi and Harrison - but I just don't think he can be at all effective at his old weight.

For Guzman's last fight, Paul Dempsey said when asking his initial question to Barry "There is no way he can make Super Bantam again" Barry replied "No chance".

yes but they dont know guzman training for the fight, maybe he came in heavy on purpose. hard to knoe if you dont have inside information

Still though, even if he didn't train he looked cut at Super Featherweight - also given all those antics before. I mean, his WBO mandatory and Guzman apparently saying "He didn't think it was for the title"..... mmmm.

It wasn't for the title, the contracts where not signed. Darke continued to open his big mouth and critisize Guzman without knowing the situation. The fight was arranged on a couple of weeks notice, it was intended to showcase Guzman and just to get him fighting again. Not as a title shot.

I think Larios would have to hurt Guzman to keep him at bay and I don't think he has the power for that. When Guzman gets a guy hurt he just waits in range for them to throw a punch back then drills them through the opening with a bomb. He'll have plenty of opportunitys for big counters in this fight. Guzman gets him in about 6 imo after hurting Larios early. If he's in shape and focused theirs no way Larios should beat him.

I think your dismissing Larios a bit to soon. Has Larios ever gone down? I always thought he has got a great chin. Yes, I do realise and appreciate that Guzman has P4P power. However, what happens if Larios is still upright when the fight reaches the middle stages - his stamina problems nearly cost him dear last time, Larios would make him pay.

Larios has been floored several times; in Japan a couple of times I think, though I believe it was against a former champ it wasn't against anyone who can bang quite like Guzman. Israel Vazquez the IBF champion also knocked him spark out in one round about five years ago...

As to Larios' fight with Wayne, I'm just glad the Mexican can't punch for fornicate. His wide slaps (hopefully) won't inflict too much damage on The Pocket Rocket, and he can retire with dignity et cetera.
