Just looking at the Cuban Gamboas record and found something quite interesting in his record in his first 15 fights he hant faced a single opponent with a losing record.
Can anybody else find an undeafeated fighter who has started his career without facing a single losing record in his first 15 fights?

Re: Unusual
The Golden (Brown Nose) Boy never fought a man with a losing record.
Re: Unusual
Alexander Povetkin has only fought one boxer with a losing record. Odlanier Solis hasn't fought any.
Re: Unusual

Audley Harrison, everyone's favourite whipping boy for poor matchmaking of prospects, only fought boxers with losing records in his first two matches.jonp wrote:Two good catches there especialy Delahoya .Looks impressive i think especialy when you look at how prospects ae matched over here

Re: Unusual
All this proves is that statistical goodness can be -- in reality -- utterly useless & canny new promoters know exactly that.
"He's unbeaten" they cry, & serve up Dmitri Salita.
"He's never been knocked out" they warble, whilst whispering under their breath "'cos he's only ever fought three divisions below the young stud we're going to feed him to tonight".
& bringing up Audley fecking Harrison & trumpeting his record as if it contains a glowing roster of killers based on the fact that most of the undersized doormen/cabbies he fought had winning records is just laughable, & proves my point for me.

There are lies, damned lies and statistics.
Re: Unusual
I take substance over style when it comes to winning record.
A bloke with a 18-31-3 record who turns up to every fight with the intention of knocking your block off is better than a bloke with a 9-1 record with those "9" coming against a bunch of patsies.

Demetrice King W 15 (KO 13) - L 17 (KO 1) - D 0 has a losing record yet is in the top 50 heavies in the World, according to Boxrec.
Zack Page W 20 (KO 7) - L 27 (KO 2) - D 2 deserves a mention in the same vein.

Wasn't it his fourth fight or something stupid?Terry D wrote:Think Tszyu took on a bloke with more losses in his pro debut but then fought only winners after that. Took on Bramble, albeit a faded Bramble, early in his career.
Re: Unusual
De La Hoya never fought anyone with a losing record his whole career. Leonard was the same, I think.
Tszyu fought Juan LaPorte in his fourth fight. That's some standard.
But guys like Gamboa are so experienced when they turn pro, they don't need to learn much, do they?
