Has Daniel Jacobs been KO'd 3 times as an amateur?

A poster on the current scene stated this in a post, you guys are the best to ask about this. KO'd 3 times? Is that the case?

I know he got stopped by Matt Korobov at a world cup but it wasn't a KO. KO's don't happen that often in the amateurs due to the padding in the gloves. Headgear helps some in preventing KO's but it doesn't protect the chin which is where most punches causing KO's land. Jacobs won a lot of national tournaments like the PAL, GG's and US Championships so if he was stopped in other bouts, it probably happened when he was younger.

You can see the bout here on boxrec: http://boxrec.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=103074

Danny was young - only 18. He got dropped at the end of the 2nd round, but didn't really appear hurt. The bout was stopped early in the 3rd round on the old 20-point mercy rule.

The judges were very generous with the points for the Russian. It is quite obvious that the World Cup was held in Moscow that year - 2005. I went back and looked at the results. USA lost to Russia: 11-0 with the USA suffering one KO loss, 5 RSCO (20-point mercy rule) losses, 1 walkover loss and 4 losses on points. We sent a pretty good team, but they were all young. Rau'shee Warren lost 46-33, Gary Russell lost 31-22, Karl Dargan lost 36-22, and Demetrius Andrade lost 35-17.

Look at those scores. When is the last time you have seen scores that high in international competitions? I think we should go back to the judges being more generous with pressing the computer buttons. The bouts will be more exciting as flurries can be used to get a handful of points. Boxers get discouraged when they throw punches and know that some landed and come back to the corner and are told that they got zero points. It is happening more and more. The scores are quite often in single digits these days. The fans don't like it either as they see stuff land and nothing happens with the scoreboard. We all know that the TV commentators have a field day with it.

Yeah, the Korobov fight I knew about. The poster said that was one of the 3 KOs he was talking bout. It wasn't a KO, not in the sense that he was implying, all I can assume is that if it's not common knowledge to this forum then the poster on the current scene must've made it up.

Thanks for the replies anyway.

Well Korobov had the experience there is no denying that in 2002 he was fighting experienced Russian vets in Gaidarbekov and the like. I don't think Jacobs had the same introduction into boxing as Matvey did and Daniel walked away with a goldmine of experience from that bout. No clue if he has been stopped before though. I do know he had wars throughout his career with his amateur contemporaries Guerrero, Wade, Estrada and Porter.
