Good luck Slick, keep me posted !
Re: 'Slick' Nick Kisner (#2 US Heavy) turning Pro
Good luck Nick! I'm sad to see you go. That is one less top guy trying to make it as our next HW Olympian. The more good amateur boxers we lose to the pros, the less quality domestic competition our boxers get. We know they need good domestic competition b/c they typically do not get enough international competition.

And I believe they are pretty close too. Doubt if that happens.Hasim Rahman Jr wrote:Are you asking will they..or have they?Interviewer wrote:nick versus joey dawjeko? they fight ever?

Re: 'Slick' Nick Kisner (#2 US Heavy) turning Pro
Nick and Joey won't box each other in the pros anytime soon. They are friends and it would be stupid to box each other. The only way it would happen is years from now as often friends are forced to box each other for titles. So if they get an offer to box each other for some serious money on TV, etc., then it might happen.
Re: 'Slick' Nick Kisner (#2 US Heavy) turning Pro
Kisner was scheduled to make his pro debut november 25th. The weigh in went well with Kisner weighing in at 195 and his opponent 195 and a half. The night of the fight his opponent came and was not medically certified to box that night so therefore the commision cancelled the bout. So as it looks right Kisner is set to make his pro debut january 15th. Hopefully this one will go through for him
Re: 'Slick' Nick Kisner (#2 US Heavy) turning Pro
I believe Nick will do great as a pro especially at cruiserweight he will be way to fast. I fought Nick twice in the amatuers and has great skills and yes he beat me both times lol but we are good friends and I wish him luck. GOOD LUCK NICK!!!!
Re: 'Slick' Nick Kisner (#2 US Heavy) turning Pro
No, doubt that Nick will do well. Nick is a good boxer, he is just young that's all. I had wished that he would stay amateur longer.DYNDAN wrote:I believe Nick will do great as a pro especially at cruiserweight he will be way to fast. Re: 'Slick' Nick Kisner (#2 US Heavy) turning Pro
Ya he prolly should have stayed amatuer a little longer and got more international experience but hey nick is a very accomplished amatuer with over 100 fights and has faced the best in the states including Lenroy Thompson, Jeremiah Graziano, Jordan Shimmell, and Javontae Charles and those guys were alot older then he was also (besides Jordan who i think only had 1 or 2 years on Nick) so he has a lot of experience to bring into the pro game.
Re: 'Slick' Nick Kisner (#2 US Heavy) turning Pro
Jordan is 2 years older than Nick. I didn't say that Nick didn't have lots of amateur experience or that he hadn't had good competition. I just think he could have benefited by staying amateur for a few more years. Turning pro at 19 just seems too soon.DYNDAN wrote:Ya he prolly should have stayed amatuer a little longer and got more international experience but hey nick is a very accomplished amatuer with over 100 fights and has faced the best in the states including Lenroy Thompson, Jeremiah Graziano, Jordan Shimmell, and Javontae Charles and those guys were alot older then he was also (besides Jordan who i think only had 1 or 2 years on Nick) so he has a lot of experience to bring into the pro game.
Re: 'Slick' Nick Kisner (#2 US Heavy) turning Pro
Ya he definitly could have benefited especially if he went to international tournaments or duals.
Re: 'Slick' Nick Kisner (#2 US Heavy) turning Pro
Nick just told me that his pro debut for mid-January is on track against a "live" opponent with a winning record. He will do just fine.
Another good, young HW is turning pro around the same time. Garret Simon has his pro debut set for January 15th.

Nicks turning pro today..
He weighed in 193...
"The long-awaited debut of Ferndale, MD cruiser and former amateur standout “The American Child” Nick Kisner will finally take place as Kisner battles against “The African Warrior” Francois Ambang of Mechanicsville, VA (2-4-1). Kisner has had three previous debut opportunities cancelled because of opponent difficulties."

You don't see that many pro cards being held on a Sunday. I hope someone will let us know what kind of crowd they get at this show. I'm guessing this opponent was picked more carefully to make sure he will pass the physical and actually show-up for the bout.Hasim Rahman Jr wrote:Nicks turning pro today..

They had a pro card on Sunday last time because of the storm but it was still well attended. They said 2,000 but I don't think it was that much but it was a lot. Fights are starting at 3pm. I'll let you know what I hear.Dennis wrote:You don't see that many pro cards being held on a Sunday. I hope someone will let us know what kind of crowd they get at this show. From Gary William's blog: "Ferndale, MD cruiserweight "The American Child" Nick Kisner made a successful pro debut with a four-round majority decision over "The African Warrior" Francois Ambang of Mechanicsville, VA. Ambang falls to 2-5-1"
Re: 'Slick' Nick Kisner (#2 US Heavy) turning Pro
there were about 300 ppl there... kisner looked sharp every 1 execpt 1 jude had every rd. for kisner. kisner boxed very intelligent in every rd. 2 judges had it 40-36 and the other had it 38-38 even i dont know how.
Re: 'Slick' Nick Kisner (#2 US Heavy) turning Pro
Sunday shows won't be happening too often if the crowds aren't better than 300. Some judges see things the rest of us don't!!! Congrats Nick on your win.
