In Fury’s defence, I think his US dates were already booked PRIOR to Chisora’s offer at the weekend. He could pull out but I think Fury’s team are looking at the long term picture.

I think the McDermott fight has knocked Fury's confidence somewhat.
He has talked about falling out of love with the game and that he has only sparred 6 rounds over the past few months etc.

I assume he is lining up two knock overs for his US trip?

I agree, the Mcdermott fight appears to have shaken Fury up - Hiding in the US for a couple of fights keeps the pressure off in regards the British scene which is a good call, but ultimately he is going to have to come back and face the Chisora's of this world.

At least, I hope that is what he does.

Shame, Fury-Chisora looked like it could be a decent fight both have their flaws and strength's I would fancy Chisora but Fury could have easily won it, but it was always unlikely to happen, 2 unbeaten prospects facing of early in their careers.

I thought it started out as sparring then quickly turned into an offer to fight him on Warren's up coming show.

Talk of 50k side bets being made by Fury etc.

As I said, I think his confidence is gone. He and his handlers realised they might have made a bit of a mistake letting him in with McDermott so soon and are now taking him down a notch.
Nothing wrong with that, just ease off the chat about being willing to take on any Heavyweight in Britain!

If they did fight now, I would back Fury. Comfortably too.

Who is there to spar with in the north of the country? Come to think of it, who is there to spar with in the UK? The UK heavyweight talent pool is so small that you end up sparring all your potential opponents or no-one. Overseas travel is the only real option. Fury can't afford to pay sparring partners, in my opinion. Not yet.

I just get the feeling that Fury thinks he's the boss, why wouldn't he travel to get top sparring, maybe go to one of the champions camps and learn and spar with them.
People like Larry Holmes learnt that way.

Larry, Price, Dallas amongst others spar each other.

Danny Williams was talking the other day about how impressed he was with Sexton's attitude. How Sam went to Germany for sparring etc.

If he wants top quality sparring, flights to Germany cost next to nothing thesedays. I'm sure plenty of decent Heavyweights there will accomodate him.
Right now he should see himself as the sparring partner for more established fighters.
I'm sure the likes of Povetkin, Boytsov, Dimitrenko, Pulev, Helenius etc will accomodate him. Take whatever they offer, go and learn.

I remember reading about Lennox Lewis when he was in camp for one of his earlier defences. He had novice Heavyweights John Ruiz and Andrew Golota working as sparring partners. Didn't do them much harm.

Fury has made a fool of himself - he cant go on the phone to boxing news saying he would take the fight and beat Chisora when he knows fine well he has committed himself to dates in America (which he could have got out of if he had really wanted to).

Fury should have fought Mcdermott in a re-match by now and has simply not lived up to his talk - unless he beats one of the decent domestic heavies like Sexton, Chisora or even Rogan then he wont have proved himself to me.
