Ryan Rhodes, David Haye, Frank W

Post by nh1 »

The following is taken from Frank W's website.

Twenty-six, are you able to shed any light on this??

[From the 'Frankly Speaking' column]:
David Haye, the promoter who constantly says that boxers are being “ripped off” and was going to make sure that wouldn’t happen on his shows.

This week Haye made an offer to one of the fighters I co-manage, Ryan Rhodes, to defend his European title on the undercard of his show.

As part of the negotiation process, we asked for three night’s hotel accommodation for four people, a modest meal allowance per day, and 10 tickets to the show.

This is a standard one in the industry – but the answer was a flat no – can you imagine no hotel or food? In all my years in boxing, I've never had that kind of response.

They also said that we couldn’t approve of Rhodes’ opponent.

Why would I put a fighter in against someone I’ve had no say over.

Are Hayemaker for real? What is Haye’s manager, Adam “Phoney” Booth on?

To make matters worse, Rhodes’ other manager is Dave Coldwell who is Haye’s matchmaker. Who needs enemies when you’ve got friends like those!
May be this is what Haye meant when he said he’d be doing things differently…hungry fighters.

How the hell did Rhodes end up with two managers? What a mess. At this stage of his career, and with a good head on his shoulders, he ought to be self managed.

I am obliged to keep the powder dry for now Spudster.
:witzend:
Chinny - Joint Manager Agreements are prevelent in boxing - fact.
However, there is now a new BBB of C ruling that Joint Manager Agreements are no longer allowed.
Rhodes is jointly managed by Warren and Coldwell.
No great mystery mate.
When the contract expires then maybe he will decide to be self Managed or maybe not !

Leforge,
Work it out for yourself mate, seems pretty obvious to me.
Horse,
I would assume they've been stopped due to complications that may arise when a dispute exists.

thanks for the responses 26, I guess you've said all you can without causing problems for your pal.

Funny how Mr Legedly's skin is so thin, yet he lets loose on others with both barrells through his various outlets.

26,

Can we expect Rhodes to be under a single manager or self managed some time this year?

A Ryan Rhodes defence could headline a show itself, and would make an excellent Friday fight night (as long as the opponent wasn't dire.)

Agree with you there April 23rd and 30th dates could be possibilities.

Leforge,
I think you'll find both of those dates are allocated.
Sky always work three months at least in advance.
Twinkle,
If you read my previous post there's the answer.
At expiry of the Contract a decision will be made.

It not clear who dates they are. Also March 5th there no headline act so far. I hope Ryan gets his chance soon after his last performance.
