Life Stories...

Post by Goodnight, Irene »

Whose bios, or auto-bios, are in your collection?

I have Tszyu, Foreman, & Louis.

I tend to pass them on rather than keep a hold of bios... I just finished Kirkland Laing which was good.

I'd like to read Duran's. Loved all the Jack Johnson ones I've read.

So little money for a writer in writing bios of boxers unless it's one of the few who transcend it.

I'd love to read an Ezzard Charles bio. I think Jaclem should give it a go.

A Flame of Pure Fire Dempsey and the roaring 20's I enjoyed. Have to like history also.

The new Tunny and Ross books I just purchased. On my list to read.

The Bummy Davis book was real good.

You mentioned Leonard twice.

Is that a misprint, or are you referring to Benny & Ray Leonard both?

Is the Famechon one called "Fammo". If so, i was just wondering if it's a recent purchase, i've been trying to track that one down for a while now. Cheers mate.

The Tunney book was excellent. The Ross one was good.

Anyone Down Under ever come across a bio of Young Griffo ?

I've never seen one specifically on Young Griffo, which is a shame considering there has been plenty on Les Darcy over the years. I've seen books with a chapter or two dedicated to Young Griffo, but none that focus on him soley.

I have two Famechon ones.

One is "Fammo" a small paper back. I found that by pure chance
at a second hand book shop for 20cents. Its in good nick as well.

The other is more or less about Famechon and Palmer, and their
boxing style. Its called "The Method" that is a good read too. Has
half bio, half instructional as such.

I have read at least one on the following:

John L. Sullivan
Jack Johnson
Jack Dempsey
Gene Tunney
Max Schmeling
Jimmy Braddock
Joe Louis
Rocky Marciano
Floyd Patterson
Sonny Liston
Muhammad Ali
Joe Frazier
Ken Norton
Mike Tyson
Evander Holyfield
Rocky Graziano
Rubin Carter
Ray Leonard
Oscar de la hoya

I didn't know there was a book on Barney Ross out. That sounds interesting.

I am reading the new Sugar Ray Robinson book now.
