Savage prob believed in his own hype, maybe he thought because he was the bigger guy and by then Cooper had had a lot of probs and regarded past it.
Other than his own claims about a bareknuckle career before the heavyweight tournament, I have never heard of him having a fight, wouldn't suprise me if he had never fought in his life

He does look a bit like that character. Javier Ayala is the unfortunate soul, and he got up to give Duran exactly what he wanted: a full 10-rounder. Duran had already wreaked enough havoc in the LA gyms.
