Another one bites the dust.
It was always going to be an uphill task without any tv backing.

Perhaps they end up on matchroom shows. Rees v Mcalister should be made.

Thats why people have no sympathy when Khan left as one of his fighters was owed a lot of money.

Calzaghe could still comeback and fight one last time and still make 3 or 4 million.

He is a young man and has to live and look after his family and himself for decades to come.

The £1.8M would surely come in handy.

If Calzacge Promotions were losing money then who can blame him.

As someoe said - maybe he should come out of retirement for a big money fight and bank a clear £2-3M.

Shame that he was not paid his money.

I would'nt want to see it but I think it might happen possibly against the super 6 winner.
It would be a shame for calzaghe to come back and risk his untarnished legacy but if he's not as well off as he'd like to be I think temptation and one big future securing pay day may see him return unfortunatley.

Or maybe If warren paid calzaghe what he owed....

Its not really funny or a whim, they have been around promotions their whole lives so why not give it a try once you hang them up?

GBP had Oscar who was worth over $100M personally and had good conections at HBO.

GBP are the boiggest promoters in the sport because of the above statement.

joe said on talksport that there is no way he would ever come out of retirement, 46-0 is not really any different than 47-0 should he come back and win, but.... 46-1 is a different story, joe wants his legacy (his words) to remain intact.

The groundsman at Old Trafford has been around football his whole life but I wouldn't anticipate that he would be a suitable replacement for Sir Alex Ferguson as manager of the club and vice versa.

It can be a quick way yo pi$$ away what money you have earned, if you're not careful.
Not quite the same - Calzaghe is more Ro9naldo than Groundsman.

Footballers go into management all the time, boxers can go into promoting, you can lose money as you righthly pointed out, but oyu can also makwe a go of it.

Hatton will stick it out, he has the backing of SKY to finance things plus his own £20/30M.

but he's had enough, which makes it even more dangerous.

what you forget is , that he's at the level where he's risking his life going in there, knowbody likes to hear this in boxing but it's true.

I don't see any need for Joe to come out of retirement.

He must of made at least a few million on his fights that e actually got paid for and I'm sure that he has brought his home, a nice one as well outright and he's got 1 or 2 flash cars so he can't be doing that badly financially.

He will get plenty of tv offers I'm sure and if not there will always be offers for him to go into the training side of things. Then if that's not enough, there's books, dvd's, and apparences at functions and things and many more opportunities.

If the money that he has as well as his assests aren't enough for him and his family to live a comfortable lifestyle then I don't know what is.

It is a shame though if he never sees the money that is owed.

Maybe Rees and Pryce should go to Hennessy....man with such a good stable its a crying shame Hennessy sports has no tv deal. Froch, Murray and Barker -these guys need to be on tv.

Ye that fight should definetly be made if he signs with them for one fight then he's back to a free agent, they would definetly be worth taking a punt on both proven good fighters.

Cannot say I'm that surprised - it seemed like the only network "semi" interested in his shows was Setanta.... BBC and ITV Wales are interested in the man, but if he could sell them a cheap highlights package - then it was always going to be a struggle.

Joe's been around the sport for a long time, but I would guess that his connections are a little limited - being a bit of a home bird.

The reason why Hatton's are succesful is they have a good stable of fighters that are going places; Murray, Lawton, Macklin and have alot of up and comers aswell.

Calzaghe had very little fighters and promoting just didn't work out for him.
