My answer can't be no.
He wants to fight March 5 in NZ on the NZ vs. Aussie card? I'm in Germany at that time sparring as I have been for the past 4 weeks, but I can see if they will let me go a week early to have this fight in NZ. I'm supposed to leave Germany March 6 so up to him. Give me the word and I will talk with the promoter about my early departure.
I have fights March 19 and April 17 lined up in America so anytime around those dates will work.
The reason for the titles that people keep shitting on is this, I didn't win it so I can sit on it. I beat him in a 6 or 8 rounder then I beat a guy 6-3 and it improves me in no way. At least with Wilson, he will want more rounds and he is the Aussie champ, which would help promote, not to mention the fact he's originally from NZ. Kirby will help sell 0 tickets. He hold no regional title, he doesn't have a good record, and in his biggest fight he was smashed!
Also I seen something about getting the fight on tv. For all those reasons just mentioned, it would get any kind of tv exposure, not in NZ at least, and any promoters in Aussie will offer peanuts and whine about prices for flying me and the team in.
I have nothing but respect for the man. He did lots in a short amount of time. Beat guys I wouldnt have thought somebody with his experience would. Good job rhino.

I don't know that the fight with Michael is 6 rounds with you or HOPPA if you want the fight it can be 10 or 12 as the schedule states and Michael has done 12 with LEAPAI and yes he was flat with SOLO but he was also flat in the first BRIGGSY fight also so he is not as hopeless as you might think and as far as tickets are concerned your the visitor you don't have to worry about that, as long as you get paid . The promoter is fair with his payment so you can't make that as an excuse just have a go and stop all the BULLSYTE.

Haumono, Leapai, and Wilson are the only good fights in OZ. No offense to any of the other heavies.
Leapai is a very hard puncher and ranked high. The man can fight and deserves a fight on the upper level. I really have no bad to say about him. He's tough! Would be a good fight between the 2 of us.
Haumono has what I want, the OPBF title. People will jump on that and say regional titles are worthless, and that they may be, but they also help sell, and selling pays the bills.
I asked last year for the fight with Kirby when he had that belt but he wouldn't respond, but now that I got a title, he wants to call me out? Apparently these titles do have some good.

Mate you never stopped calling him out last year, so it's only fair that you endure a bit. I've asked before but why do you keep beating that NZ drum, I've spoke to a few people in NZ, i read articles in NZ, monthly i read the fist magazine and always read the NZ scene, the boxing scene is very poor in attendance(about a quarter of a club venue at a tavern here in Australia) thus there can't be any money,the niche is owned by Tua, until you can do what Tua does you have to swallow your pride and do what every other NZ fighter does, come to Australia and fight real fighters to gain exposure here.

I'll give you this, you already have connections in the US, which is why most here fight, and I'm assuming you only fight here to either have grandeur thoughts of corner stoning the market, or because the Pacific region fighters pose as matches, where's in America you can't get the majority of your fights you've had even sanctioned.

Chauncy when you say we are only getting 3000 it's a bit more than that and HOPPA was offered nearly 4 times that because of his name not his title but if you want more money and respect take the fight so people will know who you are it's better than fighting Joey Wilson with the 6 and 2 record which you said fighting someone with that record doesn't look good yet your doing it, Michael is 6 and 3 with better opposition so what's the difference.

In regards to the titles, yea i agree the sanctioning bodies are ripping us off really, but you win one of these titles especially one of the big four eg WBO Asia-Pacific and you earn Top 15 world rankings, these rankings then put you in a position to earn bigger and better paying fights, so while i do think they are not EVERYTHING they do serve a purpose!

In regards to the money, no ones asking for millions just a fair pay rate. Let me ask you would you go to work for less than you are already earning elsewhere? Why should Chauncy bust his ass to break camp in Germany where hes earning well to come down here and fight Kirby for less than he makes in a week in camp? I believe the fight will happen like I mentioned in a previous post, boxing is all about timing, Tua Vs Cameron took 4 years to come together but they got it on eventually.

If Kirby pulls some nice wins together and carrys that momentum on we could potentially have a much bigger bout than we would have if they fought right now............the fires are burning though and thats a good thing!

I see what everybody is saying, but please read the title. This has nothing to do with Kirby. He don't sell in his country, and yeah, if 3000s roughly what fighters make over there, then I would rather stay where I am.
This thread is about me wanting to fight Colin Wilson, or any of the other leading respected Aussie heavyweights i.e. Leapai, Haumono, hell even Whitehead. These are the kinda fights I would like. Why am I catching mess for not fighting a fighter with less than the guys I am asking for?
I never said Kirby was a bad fighter. It just don't make financial sense to fight him. The pay is lame and yeah, the win would do more than fighting Joey Wilson (which once again, I will not be around for) but with Joey I will make roughly the same money and will keep me tuned for the 3 fighters I mentioned before.
When he had a title, yes, it was worth it, and after Haumono, that is when I quit asking for the fight. Look it up. See how many times I have asked to fight him after he lost the title. Easily tracked online.
And keep in mind, as much as it's I feel it's good for the promotion of defending the title (my opinion), it's also that I HAVE to defend the title. I have so long after winning the title to defend.
If NZ don't make as much money as OZ that is the promoter problem, not ours. If promoter pays, let Kirby come on over to Kiwiland if he accepts, but as I said, read the headline, I want Wilson, who is ranked for my title, because as much as anybody likes it, I must defend that title, and he is in the top 10 for it.
So please, I don't see how I can be trash talking Kirby, once again. He was never called out by me since he lost the title. I do not say this out of disrespect, but can we keep it to me fighting Wilson, as the title suggests? Or the Wilson vs Whitehead winner, as they will be Aussie champ. How can I be faulted for wanting to fight the champion of Aussie over one of it's lesser contenders?

Chauncy is becoming a big fish down that way! Those regional titles qualify a guy to be ranked so they are a big deal. And people disagreeing that a guy should be ranked is a beautiful thing! Chauncy's 12 in the world to Wlad Klitschko who is The Ring champion. He qualifies to be a voluntary defense to the title. He's on the list for eliminators for the title. And hopefully he gets some guys wanting to snatch those privileges away from him. Every fan who checks the rankings out gets to see his name everywhere too. His profile is definitely on the rise globally since he won that belt.

Even if Kirby and Welliver don't meet up now hopefully the NZ vs Australia card will have some carry over interest for fights like that and they can meet up down the line. It's a good online rivalry so far though.

I was hoping Stacy Goodson would want to combine their rivalry with a Dexter Dunworth update and talk about how disappointed Delray Raines was when Daniel Dawson pulled out on him and he had to fight Joe Greene on ESPN2 with short notice. His hard core radio show keeps getting postponed though. But we need to get into 2010 with this shit and use some multimedia besides this boxrec thread to build interest.

Yeh but none of his wins are against any heavyweights from OZ. Our cruiserweight Dommy VEA destroyed Seiaute Mailata in 2 rounds the same guy Chauncy had to outpoint over 12 rounds to win his title.
All I was trying to do was give Chauncy a chance to prove himself against a creditable heavyweight in OZ but excuse after excuse for us and if Colin Wilson wasn't injured and wanted to fight Chauncy you would also hear excuse after excuse as well believe me.

Contractual obligations in Germany are hardly an excuse, they are a fact of life! Things went pretty quite when Kirby was offered to come to NZ to fight Chauncy...............all of sudden the people concerned werent so keen!

Against two debutants, A boxer with 6 wins out of 12 starts, another with 1 win out of 14 starts and a cruiser weight with 12 wins out of 24 four starts.

Chauncy Welliver is a heavy weight with a 40-5-5 record, whilest I'm no boxing geek, I try to keep up with whats going on. I have a healthy interest, you might say, yet I had never heard of Mr. Welliver untill I read his thread on this forum!

He is telling Micheal Kirby to get a few more wins under his belt before challenging him yet in his last five fights he has fought two debutants and a guy who has only had one win in 14 fights! Disrespectful to say the least.

Then he has the utter disrespect to call out a man who has had to cancell fights because he is SERIOUSLY INJURED.
