Larry Holmes v Gerry Cooney...disq 13?

I read yesterday that Cooney was DISQUALIFIED because his seconds threw the towel in.

Is this correct? If so, his record needs to be amended.

(Long memory....I'm sure I read it yesterday though can't thnk where!)

Hi Phil. If a corner throws in the towel and the referee stops the contest it is almost universally ruled as a TKO.

His trainer entered the ring, like McNeeley's against Tyson. That fight was called a DQ, unless the official result was anything differently, Holmes-Cooney should go in as a TKO.
