OMG...Katsidis vs JMM.

Post by Hounddawg »

March 27th San Francisco, California, United States

I'll admit i never wanted to see this fight just yet( Katsidis being far less experienced), but with all the cancelled fights of late, this will be a cracker.

I hope Katsidis proves me wrong, but JMM should win this.

I can't believe this fight is actually happening.

How do we see this going?

Marquez has to fight Katsidis as Katsidis, being interim WBO champion, is the no 1 contender for JMM's WBO title.

Good luck, Michael.

Hmmm... it seems the schedule has changed dramatically since yesterday. Marquez off the Mayweather card, Maidana off the Jones Jr card and Khan off all the cards...

Awesome news. I'm very excited about this fight. At this stage you'd have to say living legend Marquez is a favourite and should probably outbox Katsidis.

However, Michael does have a good chance to cause an upset in this fight. Marquez is a notoriously slow starter and seems to have made it a habit to get caught early. Katsidis will win the early rounds with sheer aggression. It's up to him to do the damage early and then keep the pressure on without losing the plot, and the Casamayor fight will have done him good in this stead.

Marquez isn't getting any younger, how many wars does he have left in him? How's his motivation and mindset with the realisation he can't mix it with the high-profile welters for the really big cash?

wow, excellent news. been waiting for katsidis next fight. was hoping he would get this one.
the casamayor fight should do him well, hope he just dont lose the plot again, cos he had casamayor well covered, but u get that dont u.
doesnt change the fact katsidis is a top level fighter, that takes the good fights regardless. i hope he gets jmm. def be a cracker of a fight/war. will it be on ppv here?

This is huge. We better get a telecast of it !!
yep I am going to be bias and one eye'd. My prediction is JMM (I hope) gets old on this night and Michael gets the TKO stoppage about round 8....well maybe not but one thing I know is this will be war.
Go Kat, he is one of the few boxers who deserve any success that comes his way.

We need to support our Own fighters. Marquez is getting towards the end of his career. Also he is coming off a one sided beatdown from Mayweather.

If Katsidis can catch him early he is in with a good chance of hurting and Stopping him IMO.

Great fight and the timing could be just right for Katsidis. I like "Rocky" and will be rooting for him.

BUT...

... if he DOES win, it's going to be Green-Jones all over again on the Current Scene ("Marquez was shot, everybody knew that, this win proves nothing")

Yeah Oliver is certainly contributing.

Agree about the timing, but i still think JMM is a future ATG, and should close this out.....I truly hope i'm wrong.

I think the timing is good, too. This is Katsidis's big chance. He won't get better than this if he loses.

Unfortunately, and I'm sorry to say this, the only way I can see Katsidis winning is if Marquez has declined too much since beating Juan Diaz. Putting on weight to face Floyd, taking so many shots, and then taking the weight off could be a recipe for disaster. For me there were clear levels shown between Katsidis and Marquez when they each faced Diaz (Katsidis vs Diaz, Marquez vs Diaz).

im pretty sure this isn't going to be happening Khan is set to fight Marquez @ 140, i hope JMM skools Khan

HBO are announcing the fight card on the 27th of March Katsidis-Guerrero & Maidana-Cayo. It appears that both mandatory number one fighters are getting fucked on there title fights.

Of course he's a future ATG/Hall of Famer. It's just unfortunate that, at his age and coming off such a one-sided defeat, whoever it is that beats him next, be it Katsidis, Hatton, Khan, or someone else, will not get due credit.

But Katsidis damn-near beat Casamayor, and since then he's improved A LOT... meanwhile Marquez can't have gotten any better, even if he did beat Casamayor. It could be that JMM still has too much, but this is no formality.
