At this point I don't even know who will be entering the tournament. I know my son Jordan won't win the Michigan Senior Open tourney as he won't be entering. He has an automatic berth in the USA Championships. Other than that, it is hard to say. Maybe in a few months, I will have a better idea of who will be entering the tournament.

i see james smith at 123, jonny garcia at 141, Leandre White at 152.

These guys have been unstopaable in michigan , im sure one will win the nationals this year.

Johnny will probably be pro before May. He told me a few days ago that he probably won't box in the Golden Gloves b/c of turning pro and that tournament starts March 20th. He is boxing in an amateur bout this weekend somewhere in Chicago.

Leandre will have his hands full with Javonn "Pinkie" Barnes plus a few other guys so there definitely is no guarantee there.

James Smith - he will have his hands full with Ernie Garza, but the winner of that bout probably will win the State title.

132 - Raeese Aleem will be one of the favorites.

Leandre is 3-0 with Pinkey, and killed him in the states last year.
James won the last two with Garza.
Aleem is also a fav.

Leandre and Pinkie have had very close bouts. Blue knows better than to overlook Pinkie. If Pinkie trains hard and is in shape he can do great as shown by his NGG semi-finalist finish in 2007. The LBC tourney will be in Pinkie's half of the state this year and that may make the difference. When they boxed in 2007 it was done at a box-off in Detroit. Last year it was held in Port Huron and it was close. I look forward to a very competitive bout in Traverse City/Peshawbestown this year assuming they both win their other bouts.

just got the word that was Domonique Dolton who the the box off in 2007.
Leandre White beat him in traverse city in 2008. Michigan LBC in 09, and again in the james tony in 09. :box:
As for the lil guys it, we have no one from the south end of michigan.

I cant untill these tournaments get going.

You are correct it was Dolton in 2007. I knew it was a Kronk boxer and forgot about Dolton. It was a close bout and it was held in Pontiac (greater Detroit metro area).

152 champ will be Eduardo Alicea.
the pinkie and blue fight have all been not realy good the frist year either one did anything the sec. i think pinkie won his nose bleeding does not mean you win the fight when blue was one the rope the whole last round troy rowland make pinkie nose bleed before the fight at sparring his nose bleeded the sec fight too. Johnny turning pro that is good hope he do well. james , Aleem hope to see them become national champ. blue or pinkie will not probably become Nat. champs pinkie dont train hard to become a nat.champ and blue been there how many time and get stop. I believe IF big IF pinkie train like everyone else he will be a problem for the 152 class like when his trainer die and he made it to the final and lost to BOO BOO. and was looking good the frist round and half way in the sec. untill you seen he did not train

Jose and Pinkie might box at an upcoming show. Maybe Bay City on the 13th, Davison on the 20th or Bath (Clinton County) on the 27th. Pinkie wants to box Leandre White at one of those shows too. Lets see if Leandre wants to take a tough club show bout outside of Detroit.

Red and blue been going to every national together. Eddie got blue last year but Its not going to happen this year. As for the second. Fight with pinkey in port huron it was not even close. What was you looking at. I'm sure red and blue will be national champions. And for resse alem he have no luck if erick delon enter. I'm sure blue will come fight where ever. The kronk boys is only a call away. What about blue and neil dennis. Go red, go blue.

I will call Javan to set up Pinkie vs Blue at one of the shows that I mentioned. We will see if he is just one phone call to Kronk away from boxing Pinkie. I will let you know how it pans out.

Go ahead and post the videos of Pinkie vs Blue on YouTube and then post a link to the videos here on BoxRec and that way everyone can look at them and see what they think.

Niall is 165+. He is 18 and only has had 8 open fights. He is maturing and getting better all the time. He isn't at the national elite level right now, but could be if he wanted to train hard enough. As for Leandre, he needs to box the top guys in his weight class and I know there are plenty willing to do so. I talked to Pinkie and he said that he would box Leandre at the show in Davison on the 20th or Bath on the 27th. There is also Jose Bernal and Antonio Urista who are going to be in Bay City on the 13th. Talk to Blue and tell him to go these shows and have Javan submit his name for the shows.

Sounds like Michigan has stacked amatuer fighters downstate. Lets say the OSOEC/NMU had there top team in a dual vs michigan open top fighters. what would be the match ups and who wins? It would be one hell of a dual I think. p.s It would be like upper vs lower michigan

I just talked to Pinkie tonight. His birthday is the 20th so he isn't going to the show in Davison, but he is going to the show in Bath on the 27th. He wants to box Leandre on the 27th. I will be calling the show's host and the Kronk team's coaches to see if Leandre will travel 1-1.5 hours to box Pinkie. Keep in mind the location is over 1.5 hours away from Pinkie's home. Let's see if Leandre is willing to box Pinkie. Everyone can come and watch.

The NMU/USOEC team has had a lot of turnover recently. Right now the Michigan team would win.

112: Rafael Santos, NMU vs. ?? - NMU wins
125: Ricky Alvarez vs. Ernie Garza or James Smith - Michigan wins
132: Manuel Lopez vs. Erick Deleon - Michigan wins
152: Marquis Moore vs. Pinkie/Leandre/Bernal/Urista and others - Michigan wins
165: Darnell Parker or Chris Pearson vs Larvadain - Michigan wins
201: Hasim Rahman vs Jordan Shimmell - Michigan wins
If Trevor Bryan was still on the NMU team, he would be favored to win the 201+ bout.
Hasim is a good boxer and has guts which I like. He is willing to spar and box the best to get better. He is young and will develop into a top boxer in a few years - I like him for the 2016 Olympics.
